It looks like it would be easy turning an ankle using a Swiss Ball for Squats.Originally posted by: Koing
His knees and ankles are fine.
The problem is him using 70Kg on a swiss ball!
If he tried to squat on the ball without weights that wouldn't be so bad for a mix up of balance. If he fell he would have no risk of a barbell landing on him!

WHY squat on a SWISS BALL?! Point of the squat is to lift heavy/ reps and you CAN'T do either whilst on a dam ball...

He is building incredible core strength and balance by doing that exercise.
There are tons and I mean tons of exercises that you will not see in 90% of gyms that are just phenomenal for building athletic ability.
Go back to your bicep curls.
No swiss ball will bu ild 'athletic ability'. For athletic ability you need power which is a function of strength and speed. Neither will be worked on the swiss ball whilst squating. Your better off squating normally with weights for heavy reps and mix up with some higher rep stuff later. Do some PC and back and back and other works.
I don't do bicep curls.
Incline sit ups with weights is better for core then doing what he is doing. He can also do dragon flags or bulkoffs.

Still a bad idea bro. One simple jerk reaction the wrong direction can cause ligament or ACL injuries.

Yeah don't worry I don't make it a regular thing!
I only did it as the Gymnastics coach asked me so. The floor their is padded so if I fell it wouldn't be a problem.
I'll stay the hell away from the beam! No way would I have the balls to do any summersaults on the beam...the thought of it just makes me wince and scares the hell out of me...I saw one guy do a back summy on it and it scared the hell out of me. He landed it but still.

OK, I see it now.
That looks like a balance exercise, not strength.
Come on, it's only one plate.

I tore my ACL 12 years ago slipping on a icy sidewalk. Painful as hell. Lots of therapy. Gobs of lost muscle lost due to atrophy.

Yea but it's still about 140 lbs. That would hurt like hell to have land on your head![]()
