doesn't count.

eh, if you can't do it and surprise her, you ain't got the ballz. plain and simple.

It really depends on the girl in the end. My GF doesnt have the guts to surprise me with a new CPU, HSF, HDD, Case, Speakers. I am the same with not having the guts to surprise her with a dress. Its a unwritten agreement.

No it is not. Either way you are screwed. Buying larger makes you look like you think she is fat, buying smaller makes her feel fat.

Or makes them think you want them to lose weight - which always ends up with you getting burned

Why not? Her interests lie in fashion while mine lie in Hardware/electronics. We are talking about the ability to "walk into the other persons territory" and hope to god you dont get murdered during that walk.

Two soldiers are in a trench in a defensive position. The enemy outnumbers them and is setup in solid defensive positions a couple hundred yards away. They've got mounted machine guns, riflemen with their weapons drawn, a good mine field already in place, etc. They're really dug in.

The first soldier says "Let's go get 'em! We can take them out!"
The second soldier says "Fvck that. I ain't dying in that field."
First soldier says "What's the matter? Haven't got the balls for it?"
Second soldier says while clutching his balls "Whatever you say man, I ain't going out there."

So the first soldier charges up over the bank alone, where he's cut down in a hail of machine gun fire. His bullet ridden corpse falls on top of a land mind and is blown to pieces. His balls are also blown off.

You figure it out.

I wouldn't buy a dress for my gf...but I would consider going shopping w/her to get one...every once in a while (i hate shopping, but in doses with wide gaps in between, it's tolerable...hehe)

i've bought her a dress before.

i got lucky with choosing the right size.

if it was the wrong size, i would have played the "i'm a dumb male who doesn't understand women's clothing sizes" card.

if your sig. other is so insecure that she'll freak out with the wrong size, and overlook your kind gesture, she's got issues.

Are you crazy? Buy a girl a dress? I'd feel safer clog dancing on a nigerian mine field.

I have no problems buying my wife clothes. She's a perfect 8 and sizing is easy (assuming an 8 can be found). :p

hell yeah. :) I love shopping...I shop more than 90% of my female friends, and my friends that are in the fashion industry love having an objective male opinion. Doesn't hurt that I get to stare at them with reason :p

Although I wouldn't expect it to fit perfectly, but there'd be an understanding that we'd find something that did.

Metros don't count ;)

I would buy her one, but she's really not a big fan of dresses/skirts. I do pick out some of her clothes now though, mostly shirts.

Can't I just get a gift certificate instead?

This is a case of too many romance novels... I dont even know how women buy dresses... dont they have to try them on and all that jazz?

Nobody said anything about #1 interest. I didnt think i had to be extremely precise on ATOT. In anycase, what i was trying to say was, She likes fasion as much as I do Electronics. The main point of that post was to say that people on both sides usually do not like to venture into a domain where they are not the the most comfortable/knowledgeable in.

Surprises are cool, and if there be a day that she can pick out electronics just as well as I can pick out a dress for example, then cool. But, certainly 1 year isnt long enough to scope out the field. Maybe in a few more.

Where's the sizing problem? Just sneak into the wardrobe, find the brand you know she usually wears, get the size off of one of the dresses of the same brand that you know she still wears from time to time, and then head to that store and buy a dress. How could you go wrong?
