I have on several occasions. I also rather like the attention you get from the ladies when you shop at a nice place for your lady. They're especially helpful with their opinions. When you know her well enough it's really not difficult to find the right size, something she'd like, etc.

I try to buy things she would like rather than things I would like to see her in. Sometimes they are the same, but I wouldn't want her to think that I'm trying to make her dress a certain way for me.

Yeah of course I don't see the problem, I used to buy my ex gf clothes all the time, I earned more money than her and I liked surprising her with things. Most of the time my choices of dress were good, though occasionally I got it wrong but I never got the "How fat do you think I am?" heh some things just looked good on a hanger but sh!te when she tried them on...

No Stereotypes or anything of the like intended...

For me, Ill easily buy her a new peice of hardware whether it be a computer, speakers, mp3 players... Picking out a dress is not an option for reasons minendo menioned. Just dont want to have to listen to the distasteful comments.

As for the opposite, she picks out a shirt or pants, and 99% of the time I like it. But, if she tries to pick out a piece of electronic equipment, or similar... no dice.

However, there are a rare set of guys that know everything about fashion, and would probably not have a problem with picking out a dress for a girl. I forget the pyschological term for this type of person, and they arent exclusively homosexual.

Listen to the old married guy......

ALWAYS buy them 1 size smaller than what you think.....

Remember......

When buying clothes for women it's ALWAYS better to give
them smaller clothes rather than larger clothes :)
