Out of curiosity, what does shampooing your hair have to do with going to the gym? Is this the only time you ever get out of the house?

My hair gets really dirty when I sweat a lot.

Actually, when I work out on a regular basis (which hasn't happened in a while) I use conditioner more often. When I sweat a lot, my hair feels more coarse.

I have short hair, but I do use conditioner. It takes all of three seconds and I like how it makes my hair softer, so why not.

let's see..... exercise = sweat = oils + smell => go shower and shampoo.... sigh. walking around, going to work usually isn't a sweaty routine (unless you do hard labor). obviously 1 hour of gym is not the same as 1 hr at work for me....

I use it. It makes my hair softer and just takes an extra few seconds in the shower.

Why not use it other than a lack of security in your manhood?

This (and judging by the number of no votes, there's a lot of insecurity on here).

2 in 1 things always just make my hair look/feel like regular shampoo. But I'm no hair expert, so who knows.

I think he is implying there isn't any physical exertion on non-gym days, thus no sweating. Likely has a white collar job, and thus nothing environmental really making his hair nasty.

I have short hair too, and if I haven't really done anything, I make it a point not to shower that day. It dries my hair out and my scalp.

Hell I'll even admit I don't shower on days I don't do much. After showing, it's either I have to apply lotion (specifically on my face) or wait half a day for the natural oils to start doing their job. And I cannot wash my face unless by washing that means standing under the shower head, essentially rinsing my face. Otherwise super dry face (water alone dries the skin enough).

I'd rather have some natural oil on my skin that have completely barren skin. Especially in the winter where it just never gets to the point of moisturizing itself.
In the summer, or warm environments in general, things are different. Sweat and oil, on both skin and scalp, need daily cleansing unless I didn't even leave the house.

Unless the environment dictates otherwise, showering daily is generally a bad idea. It's a good wake up call, but our body kind of relies on what it builds up, and for some reason our society enjoys the spoils of excess in terms of grooming.
I for one would rather skip a day than have super dry skin and either go the day with flaky skin on my face and scalp, or require oily products to be used right after the shower...

I use conditioner and here are my thoughts.

First off, the conditioner I use is for guys with thinning / balding hair. It's supposed to help strengthen the roots and it does help thicken the hair. This stuff was suggested by my stylist, if you are in the same boat, I'd suggest doing the same. If I don't use this stuff, I look terrible and might as well bic it. This is probably the defining reason I use it.

However, there is also the logical side of it. Shampoo strips everything from your hair. It only makes sense to add some oil back. Now, you don't slather your hands in conditioner, that's nasty. You gotta use a little bit, the amount is key. If you are putting a little bit of oil back, then your body doesn't have to go overboard with it's own oil in your hair, which should /usually/ make your hair less oily over the course of the day. This is a similar to concept to skin dryness therapy and a lot of acne treatments.

I use about a dime amount of conditioner in my hair and usually I skip 1 day a week. Stuff lasts forever. However, since I have thinning hair, I have to leave it in for 1-3 minutes, so it does slow me down. That is the down side.

Gotcha. This is an issue I have not noticed, even when I come out of the gym all sweaty. Of course, now I bet I'll notice it...

Voted "No, or not regularly" because with my shorter hair, I don't need conditioner very often.
When my hair was long however, I had to condition it daily if I wanted to be able to comb/brush it after a shower. Otherwise, it was like trying to comb steel wool.

I voted no, very rarely

my hair is short, every few weeks when I end up doing alot/sweating alot or doing something nasty like working on insulation, or generally whenever I cut my hair, I will use conditioner.

maybe twice a month? sure it would feel softer, if I didnt have to toss a ton of gel in my hair for it to not frizz or fro out

my hair isn't long enough to warrant it.

but I did when I had longer hair (my hair was at my chin or longer from junior high till senior year of college). helped keep knots out.

My hair is extremely thick and I use conditioner every time I shower. For a few weeks I experimented with using it only on every two or three showerings, but I noticed that the texture was definitely different when I didn't use the conditioner.

No, and my brand of shampoo is dictated mainly by what's cheapest at the time.
