I use conditioner and here are my thoughts.

First off, the conditioner I use is for guys with thinning / balding hair. It's supposed to help strengthen the roots and it does help thicken the hair. This stuff was suggested by my stylist, if you are in the same boat, I'd suggest doing the same. If I don't use this stuff, I look terrible and might as well bic it. This is probably the defining reason I use it.

However, there is also the logical side of it. Shampoo strips everything from your hair. It only makes sense to add some oil back. Now, you don't slather your hands in conditioner, that's nasty. You gotta use a little bit, the amount is key. If you are putting a little bit of oil back, then your body doesn't have to go overboard with it's own oil in your hair, which should /usually/ make your hair less oily over the course of the day. This is a similar to concept to skin dryness therapy and a lot of acne treatments.

I use about a dime amount of conditioner in my hair and usually I skip 1 day a week. Stuff lasts forever. However, since I have thinning hair, I have to leave it in for 1-3 minutes, so it does slow me down. That is the down side.

Dude- some advice. If you have thinning hair, get on minoxidil NOW. I was nearly bald on top before 40 and now have a good portion of my hair back. That was just using the $20 Walmart brand for 3 months. Stuff works wonders :)

I think I researched products like that and they don't work for me, because I'm not balding on the top like the friar tuck look, I've got the never ending receding hairline like the dude who hosted holmes on homes.
