Realistically, it's not worth his time to sue you for $200. He's just trying to scare you into paying up.
Its a morale thing for the guy I would guess, to teach the OP a lesson in following through. If he goes to court the op will be liable for the $200 and court costs if the op loses, so he will come out with the money and wont cost him a dime in doing so.
If the OP bid on the product and backed out, ignoring him will not make him go away, just more fuel for his fire to follow through. If you bid and won, or BIN and won, doesnt matter, ebay states if you win, or BIN, you are liable for it, and it is a contract between the two parties, which can be help up in a court of law if need be.
OP you fvcked up, just face the facts, suck it up to lesson learned, explain to the parents what happened, what is going on, and either borrow the money from them, find a job, or start selling some possessions to make good on your mistake. This was not the other persons mistake to have to eat it, re-list, and pay for it, its yours, just own up to it like a man.
I agree, 100 percent.
It's your fault. If it hasn't been too long, you do owe him the 200 dollars, and nothing more, but I don't know if you'll learn from it nearly as much as being dragged into a small claims court...
Maybe I'm being a jerk about it, but in the words of "funboy42", suck it up.
No sympathy here, sorry.
