I really wish the nervous nellies wouldnt stockpile shit they're never going to use. Makes recreational shooting a real bastard.

I know. I used to go and shoot around 500 rounds/per day with my .22 pistols and rifles. Now I can't find my ammo, unless I get up really early and beat the regular customers. Those customers know what date and what time .22 ammo will arrive at the LGS.

Well, the comment I replied to was about guns specifically.

And, for the semi casual shooter a 200% is not that big of a deal. If you're going through 200-300 rounds per month you're talking $200 or so per year. Trivial. And, prices have come way down over the last year.

And actually, the math for your ammo seems off, if you're going through 300 rounds a month, for 9mm rounds, that looks to be around $90 a month on the low end (realistically, higher based on ammo that's readily available), which would translate to $1080 a year. I'm seeing some prices online for almost $2 a round for 9mm, so that would be $600 a month/$7200 a year... so probably somewhere inbetween.

Almost $2 per round of 9 mm? Which brand and which online store?

I have been using Hornady Critical Defense 9 mm and they are about $0.75 per round (including shipping).

Then you'll have to let me know your secret.

I haven't seen .22lr on the shelves for more than a year.

They are around if you know the shipping schedule of the store, then you have to get up early and buy them before they run out.

Actually, you'd be wrong about that, 10 - 20% increase? Try 100-200% ... for ammunition. You kinda need ammo to use your guns, and you don't buy them 'once every couple years'. Apparently, even non-gun owners are buying up all the ammo increasing the prices even more and screwing gun owners by gouging them. The gun boom has actually hurt gun owners and they're complaining about not even being able to buy ammo. Funny thing is, electing a democrat is sort of a way to control gun sales because the prices skyrocket so much, just look at all the rednecks complaining about how they can't buy ammo anymore LMAO:

I guess making gun owners poorer is a good thing.

So your argument is that unprecedented levels of gun proliferation is a form of gun control. Good. Please spread this mental cartwheel to your liberal brethren, it's utter logic is fitting of the "intellectual" party.

I've seen some much cheaper, but i was giving a range.

At 75 cents a round though, that's 225 a month/2700 a year for 300 rounds a month... thats a pretty expensive hobby

Yes, people who don't even own guns hoarding ammo and not using it to gouge you is 'liberal logic' you twit.

Give me a fucking break. Exotic self defense ammo has always been expensive. Nobody "plinks" with that shit.

Nobody is "hobby shooting" $.50/per round 9mm...

There is some strange irony in the fact that Democratic politicians seem to be both the best *and* worst thing to happen to both gun proliferation *and* gun control... ;)

I didn't say that was the typical price, i gave both the low and high end. But it looks like 70-80 cents seems to be the common price based on this and what Svnla said. And i guess if you're trying to buy locally, it seems like it's impossible to, depending on where you live.

Serious gun hobbyists make/reload their own ammo, FYI. I've not bought live ammo in... >10 years? :hmm:

The way i see it, if people who already own guns are illogically buying up guns they don't need and ammo they won't use and enriching gun manufacturers at their own expense, that's probably the only time i'd actually cheer a 1 percenter ripping off the common man :p

Seems to be it only shows current gun owners to be suckers. The number of households owning guns has steadily declined for decades, yet the number of total guns owned goes up. That indicates that fewer people are buying more guns.

It's similar to the recent popularity of the redneck-cum-lately folks on Duck Dynasty. They created a product that people would identify with and buy out of thing air and sold it well. Stir up some controversy that fits in well with people's world view and then reap the benefits. Gun owners have been snarfing up guns ever since Obama was elected in preparation for them to be taken away. Every time there's a mass shooting the NRA will use the subsequent cry for common sense gun control to encourage more sales.

It's a brilliant self-fulfilling prophecy. Make guns easily accessible so as not to mitigate the likelihood of another gun tragedy. Wait for eventual gun tragedy. Use aftermath to boost sales to the fewer people who are fearful of losing them. Which, in turn, introduces more guns into the public at large to keep the likelihood of another catastrophe high. I'm sure it makes a lot of people wealthy.

You have to be like a ninja to buy .22 ammo. Or ask the salesperson in a whisper-like voice "do you have any .22 ammo?", the salesperson looks around wearily, replies with a smaller voice "Since you've been asking the same question since last year, I've gotten something for your need." He promptly pulls out a small packet with about 20 rounds of .22 for $5. I can buy controlled substances with less hassle.

And those people are douchebags; but I'm still waiting for you to tell me how it's a form of gun control. That ammo is going to make it onto the market sooner or later. Ammo prices have already come down substantially from their peak and are continuing to fall.

Also as others have noted your links are retarded. Here's some standard .45 ACP target ammo in stock and ready to ship for .48/round. In 2012 I bought similar ammo for ~.38/round.

Lol! They live in fear? I don't think the wanting of ending people needlessly dying at the hands of guns is based on fear. It's no different than those that want to end the suffering one goes through when they get breast cancer that could have been prevented by early detection.

However, I'd say that buying guns because you think the government is going to take your guns is entirely fear based!

That said, I don't think people who support pro gun movements do so out of fear (they, like a lot of movements, use fear to push their agenda though).

Yes, damn those guns that have hands and can pull their own triggers. Those should certainly be banned.

No, good quality self defense 9mm is around 70-80cents.

There are dozens of options in the 40cent range to practice with.

This is not even an issue.

The only problem is 22lr which is being hoarded because it's the most common caliber in america. Millions of households have a 10/22 or .22 rifle/pistol.

Right, it's all one big conspiracy. People who think like you are why gun control initiatives fail. You don't know gun owners, you don't know the issues, and it shows.
