Define automatic. The gun grabbing crowd considers my main deer rifle, a 30-06, an automatic/assault rifle.

That?s one of my personal pet peeves.
Every time there is a shooting on the news it was done with an ?automatic? rifle.

Yes....crime would go down. If everyone is armed the jackasses of the world have to think twice before they decide to commit a crime.

Is it a M19A2? That's the only gun chambered in .30-'06 that's an automatic, as far as I know. Unless you have one of the experimental M14s...

Several strategic locations in my house, and one in whatever vehicle I'm driving. Plus I have a concealed carry permit for when I'm out and about.....

Alot of people are saying that they own a gun for defense and security/protection....but I have to ask, is it really necessary to own a gun in order to protect yourself and your family? Most families are protecting themselves fine without guns....so what do you guys think about the families who believe they dont need a gun to protect themselves?

I call them potential victims.

Seriously, though, guns are equalizers, they turn a 90 lb female into the equal of a 250 lb robber, rapist, etc.

The sad thing is that the media has been shown to underreport crimes stopped by the use of guns, it's just a matter of time till the general public becomes complacent enough to ban guns in the US because of this kind of crap.

I think the location of a person influences their opinion on guns.

I agree. I will never have guns in my house while I still have kids in the house. In the areas I have lived, there is a low enough crime rate that I would be more scared of my own gun than of anyone breaking in to our house or threatening us. When my kids are all out of the house, I might want to have some guns. Some WW2 era rifles would be really cool. My wife may not agree though.

I'd rather have my children growing up *with* guns and learn to respect and use them. My youngest son was a better shot than I am with my .22 when he was 8 or 9 years old - and I've shot squirrels by shooting them through the branch they were standing on (I'm a good shot too.)

I'm not taking his side or anything. I regret even saying I agreed with anything he says now that I read his ridiculous statement implying that all gun owners are uneducated rednecks.

I'm all in support of gun rights and I fully understand your view and would defend it. I just meant, for me personally, I would be extremely nervous having a gun in the house with my kids. I just think it would be a constant sense of worry for me. Much more so than any fear I have of being attacked in my home. And I do agree with the statement that the locations I have lived are probably the reason I don't feel like there is a need for me to have a gun. But I certainly wouldn't fault anyone else for making a different decision for themselves.

Anti-gun fanatics are under the impression that weapons=violence, and are also under the impression that violence=bad. Neither one of those assumptions can be proven true or false, so when you look at it more closely, they're really just trolling: starting arguments to burn time otherwise spent confronting reality. Shut up and go tell your loved ones you love them. Your anti-gun high-horse won't be so tall after I shoot it :).

Are you serious?

Yes.

Are you fully certain that every person you know owns absolutely zero firearms?

You can tell who has a gun and sho doesnt. Education, career success, appearance.[/quote]
I don't believe I've ever heard anything more ignorant, at least not in a long, long while.

Nope....it's just a Remington model 7400 30-06. Have a couple of old M1's as well. Point is that the gun grabbers consider my Remington the same thing as an assault rifle. They are asshats.

Asking for trouble? WTF? It's not like he goes around waving his knife in the air
It's so dumb. You're not gonna get attacked. There's no reason to promote violence having weapons in your possesion. Yeah obviously he doesn't wave it around, but it's not setting a very good example carrying around a knife.
OMFG! Is this kid serious? Setting an example? For who? Are you guarenteeing me that I will not get attacked? You sure are an optimist! LOL! There is NO ONE on Earth that can convince me otherwise...
You live in Ohio. WTF happens there. I live in freakin LA. I don't have to carry a freakin knife like an idiot. You act smart on the streets and youll have no worries.

Columbus had over 120 homocides last year, the highest in it's history... again, you can;t change my mind about this. Go home and play hop scotch in from of your Beverly Hills, white picket fence home.

what the @#$*( are you talking about. I see kids get beat up on the streets all the time. Why? Because they are STUPID. Walk around with diamond earrings and walkmans, crap like that. If you get beat up then it means that you obviously are doing something dumb

And if your friend had a knife he could have ended that real quick. You're arguing against yourself. Or are you saying that not only is it dumb to carry a knife, but it's also not 'smart' to carry a walkman? I'm really lost because this doesn't make sense. :p

Guns are the most cowardly weapon man has ever invented (well maybe next to a nuclear bomb). I don't mind if people use a gun for target practice or even killing an occasional deer/duck, etc IF you plan on eating it. (You "sport hunters" who kill animals and just leave the bodies disgust me).

Anyone who uses a gun on a human is a coward. The criminal who uses one to rob a bank is a coward and the person who tries to defend themselves is a coward, although I can see justification in having a gun to protect yourself. There is no respect for life when you use a gun. It's too easy to kill someone.
