Thats quite a statement. How can you be so sure?

Are you serious?

Yes.

Are you fully certain that every person you know owns absolutely zero firearms?

You can tell who has a gun and sho doesnt. Education, career success, appearance.

This is the most asinine statement I've read all day.

I'll admit it, I think education, and income play a big part when it comes to gu ownership. I dont think it's an asinine statement at all.
Of course it's asinine. I'm going to assume that are not educated (yet) and also don't bring in the big bucks. Does that mean you are a gun owner?

Gun owners, post your picture.

How about this:
People post pictures and you tell if they are gun owners or not.

I'll start:
Pic1
Pic2

Am I a gun owner or not?
You got a 50/50 shot. No pun intended.

I'll say yes.

Pic3
How about now?
Still think I'm packing?

LOL
Yes

For the first 2 pics I tried to find the most "redneck" pics of myself available on the Internet.

But, the truth is: aside from BB/pellet guns, I have never even handled a real firearm, let alone actually operated one, and I would be scared to own one.

But I won't use my own fears as an excuse to infringe on the constitutional rights of others.

Really? So people with graduate degrees, who are successful, and look good don't own firearms?
I also find that to be strange. The other day I was working on the President of our company's laptop, and he noticed that I had a pocket knife. He asked me about it and I showed it to him. To my amazement, he pulled out the EXACT same knife (S&W Tactical Millenium Run). We then started talking about guns, and he owns a Glock 17. He makes 200k+ easily...

I guess all gun owners are imbred rednecks.

Asking for trouble? WTF? It's not like he goes around waving his knife in the air
It's so dumb. You're not gonna get attacked. There's no reason to promote violence having weapons in your possesion. Yeah obviously he doesn't wave it around, but it's not setting a very good example carrying around a knife.
OMFG! Is this kid serious? Setting an example? For who? Are you guarenteeing me that I will not get attacked? You sure are an optimist! LOL! There is NO ONE on Earth that can convince me otherwise...
You live in Ohio. WTF happens there. I live in freakin LA. I don't have to carry a freakin knife like an idiot. You act smart on the streets and youll have no worries.

And you don't even have your profile enabled or will tell us just where is this great crime-free city that you live in?

I think it's time to ban the troll...

I didnt say that crime does not occur where I live, but the violent crimes that are being referred to arent as common as many of you are making them out to be in the societies you are living in.

I live in the middle of the country with nothing but sleepy little towns and dairy farms for miles all around. A couple years ago some lady got car jacked by a man and was forced to drive her car to the state forest a mile and a half from my house, where he tried to rape her. I say tried, because she shot the bastard and got away. Violent crime can happen anywhere at any time, and all the police can do is clean up after it's done. No one has to justify anything to you.

This was in Ohio by the way, for those who wonder WTF happens here.

Great idea.

Just look at his sig.

He's a troublemaker.

I am not against eating meat at all but the sig is there to "bother" people.

Quit being a tool.

We would live in a very polite society.

Besides which, seeing as the passage of CCW laws has not resulted in higher amounts of the FUD you listed above, I'm not too worried. But I guess that whole "logic" thing isnt needed by anyone either, huh?

How about my father, an MD/PhD who specializes in cardiovascular surgery, who pulls down well over what you'd consider to be wealthy, and who also owns Sig P226-NAVY, a Sig P239 in .40S&W , a 1916 Springfield .30 '06, and a 12 gauge shotgun. He has his concealed carry permit, and most of the time when he is out of the house he is packing. So, I guess those who are well educated and/or are wealthy choose to carry guns...

The majority of Residents @ my hospital are anti gun, funny thing is, once they start practicing medicine, marry that trophy wife, get that $300K house, have a couple of kids & they start asking me about what kind of handgun they should buy.

I'd say 80% of the residents are anti gun, and 90% of the practicing physicians I know own handguns for personal defense.

What, you think an MP5 wouldnt work for self-defense? Not that I own an MP5, it just seems odd you say "besides hunting and self-defense", and then truncate it to hunting.

Wouldn't a shotgun or pistol be enough for self defense?

My father was in the U.S. Army, served two tours in Vietnam, and was in the National Guard all throughout my childhood. He and his friends would collect rifles so I always grew up with guns around the house. I am used to the things; they don?t bother me in the slightest. Today, I am a gun owner. I have more than a few. The only one that I keep out is a shotgun in my bedroom closet. The rest are stored in a gun safe. I do not hunt but I do enjoy an occasional belt at the shooting range. For awhile skeet shooting was my hobby.

I call them potential victims.

Seriously, though, guns are equalizers, they turn a 90 lb female into the equal of a 250 lb robber, rapist, etc.

The sad thing is that the media has been shown to underreport crimes stopped by the use of guns, it's just a matter of time till the general public becomes complacent enough to ban guns in the US because of this kind of crap.

I think the location of a person influences their opinion on guns.

I agree. I will never have guns in my house while I still have kids in the house. In the areas I have lived, there is a low enough crime rate that I would be more scared of my own gun than of anyone breaking in to our house or threatening us. When my kids are all out of the house, I might want to have some guns. Some WW2 era rifles would be really cool. My wife may not agree though.

No. You can't be serious. And no. You don't know if people you know have guns.

Case in point. I am upper-middle class and hang out with others and even some that are freakin loaded some with phds, mbas.

Guess what we do for fun sometimes?

That's right. Hunt or go to the range.

You're just trolling at this point.

Should give you a clue that you're wrong.

How much $/year are you going to make KK? My friends (same wages etc as me are driving Jags & Lexus'), I choose a stripper Ford pickup because I'm cheap. Our household income is well in excess of $100K.

Define automatic. The gun grabbing crowd considers my main deer rifle, a 30-06, an automatic/assault rifle.

I'd rather have my children growing up *with* guns and learn to respect and use them. My youngest son was a better shot than I am with my .22 when he was 8 or 9 years old - and I've shot squirrels by shooting them through the branch they were standing on (I'm a good shot too.)

I tend to agree here too. I've lived in LA for 12 years and never owned a gun. Never felt the need to own a gun. Never felt scared enough to own a gun. And I don't live in Beverly Hills either. Crime happens, but it's rare when you consider the size of this city. I think you're more likely to be shot by accident owning a gun, than being shot by someone else with a gun.
