If you change later great, as you can with no negative effect really. But Jewelcrafting and Cooking are the 2 hardest as the mats for them are not the best to come by. Gems for Jeweling are used in other profs. And cooking mats are all gold, and karma based pretty much.

And it isn't exactly more profitable. Its just a lot more people made money with that choice. Offset costs and the fact Many players took that as a crafting choice.

Ok so weapon and armor on my Ranger or thief, then on my next toon i can do cooking and Jewelery when i have more money to toss at it.

Anyone able to give me some more details on rangers though, at work and don't have access to much. Is there a melee build, what weapons combos do they use?

There is a melee weapon setup they can use. Which one? I cannot remember. They also can use bows and such I know that.

At start of game when you "choose" yoru story, you get to choose between 1 of 3 pets. (Which if I remember right is your F1-F4 abilities.)

Later I think you can get others.

Sorry thats all i got and can remember from 45min on BW3 getting to level 4 on a ranger.

how is a jewler the most profitable?
Do they make Gems? I thought they only made rings and amulets.

my assumption is that rings and amulets and such are the easiest to sell? you also do well by selling the various refined pieces form crafting. most of the gems I have seen come from random drops, or from crit mining of copper/silver nodes, etc.

Cool thanks, i will check it out when i get off work, leaning towards ranger now for my first character. Should have tried it more in beta.
 
Ranger does the most DPS with either the bow or Great sword.
Ranger with greatsword is OP, but ur riding on the definition of paper cannon... forget glass, cuz ur more fragile then glass.

Warriors are OP with twin Axes's and a rifle. (eviscerate is still the highest single DPS skill in the game i think with a crit possible of 15k in pvp)
Although the GreatSword is also nice.. the fact u have to sit in 1 place for HoB can mean Death to you against a Boss type champion.

yea I think with so many people playing everything but guardian or warrior I may choose one of them first.

I prefer hammer with warrior--or mace/axe. also enjoy dual axe.


but running around smashing things is quite satisfying. I think they changed the one "golf swing" skill with hammer though--it was a huge knock-back, that I don't think they do anymore. It is now a stun :\

lol... i did that on a gaurdian.
As its the only class which throws up a shield when resing if u got the perk.

Needless to say gaurdians are fun to a degree, then they get boring.
A lot of staying in 1 place so mobs run to your signets vs the warrior running around in circles hacking and spaming.

mes has a perk where you gain a shield when you res someone... can't remember what it was called now though.

Mes also has a skill that insta-rezzes a downed person (not a dead person), and they will stay up if you kill the NPC that is attacking them within 5 or 10 seconds.

Actually--it's an AoE cast--so it rezzes anyone downed in that area. 😀
 
well i wasn't even gonna bother if servers went live at (for me) 2am local time... but if they're gonna open that early... i can sleep when i'm dead 😛
 
I'll be on tonight as soon as the servers are up. Let's hope they are ready to be pounded.

Think I'm going to start an Elementalist. Been looking at what people say they are going to play, and I don't see many Elementalists mentioned. Trying to get a heads up on things; watching vids and such.

The last few hours suck. 😵

there were a shit-ton of eles in the Beta. It is actually my 3rd/2nd character I think. Will have to wait and see. The only reason it isn't a solid #2 is because I was so astonished by how much I enjoyed Engineer.

I honestly think it was mostly due to my ele being Sylvari (disliked just about everything about that area and race), and the Engineer was Asuran (fell in love with that area and that race)

hmmm, I don't need to do anything with the client, do i? I still have it within the generic folder on my desktop, as instructed prior to BW1.

Its up to date too i think.... my client isnt downloading anything... just waiting for servers to go live hopefully in 55min.

yeah, so I'm sure I'll see you on rather quickly. let's definitely team up and do some exploring and unlocking.

I want to create 3 toons first (maybe 4???), then add some ATers to the friends list. ...and then maybe venture to HoM?
