Ele is awesome damage with a rather unique weapon/skill set combo. (each weapon set essentially has 20 skills tied to it, depending on elemental attunement that you are using. You can't switch weapons during fight, but you can switch between 4 attunements.)

I've heard great things about ranger, at least--it is very different from GW1. I haven't tried one, so I can't say much about it. At the very least, the sound effect for the rain of arrows skill or whatever is absolutely terrifying if you're nearby. 😀

i love mes so that's what I'm going with. The class seems to have undergone the most nerfing/buffing of all of them (mostly nerfing) to this point. It's a very odd playstyle. You do need to remain on the periphery most of the time, and casting through allies to hit your targets. there are some up close skills, but you utilize them by jumping in, popping a clone or phantasm, and getting the fuck out. there is a damage mitigation phantasm that is quite useful for more up close play, but it only get you so far.


Ele is the squishiest of the bunch. I forgot to mention that it also lays down various walls and traps that are used as combos for allies (fire wall--ranger can stand behind this and shoot arrows towards target--arrows become fire arrows, etc)
 
Weird as it may be I think I will play ranger first.

Even though I loved Engineer, mesmer and Elementalist in Beta. I feel like this may be a good starting point.

Also, if mods see it, I think we should be creating a seperate post for GW2 non beta / actual playing and about the guild/server and stuff. Shifting through 72 pages of beta and theorys may be a little much to keep on a "new" topic in same thread.
 
Well, I didn't play the beta at all but decided to prepurchase so I can start playing on the 25th. Now to just decide on a class. I'm thinking Necromancer or Warrior.

Also to a post i just posted, good idea to make a seperate post about the "live" GW2 and/or for the guild. Get the Anet tags listed and such. And those who play on other servers?

Gah now i am thinking of Ranger over thief ...

So not sure, i bartend till 3 am est so can't wait to get off tonight and play!
 
I'm not going to be able to play this weekend but I'll make my guy on stormbluff. Probably gonna go with charr thief first since I found sylvari to be kinda disappointing in the beta.

Can anyone post some more info on rangers, can't get to much at work.

What different weapon setups do they use, is there a melee build for them or more bow vs duel pistols or something? How are there skills?

how is a jewler the most profitable?
Do they make Gems? I thought they only made rings and amulets.

I would suggest first character picking up the crafting that is armor and weapon for your profession.

If you change later great, as you can with no negative effect really. But Jewelcrafting and Cooking are the 2 hardest as the mats for them are not the best to come by. Gems for Jeweling are used in other profs. And cooking mats are all gold, and karma based pretty much.

And it isn't exactly more profitable. Its just a lot more people made money with that choice. Offset costs and the fact Many players took that as a crafting choice.

But did they really just compare a virtual economy to the 2007 US economy? lol
