One of my only complaints about GW1 - and it was a big one - was all the invisible walls, and inaccessible map areas. I love love love exploring new areas, trying to get to places that are hard to reach, and so forth.

Does GW2 *really* have a completely open, accessible, sandbox-type world, or is it just less confined than the original?

GW2 has a big, open world like most MMOs. Some of the quests are instanced, however.

I really wish I could find some of the old Galahad players, I could never get into Mordred. Played a few friends characters there for fun though, and it was a blast.

i'm going to be getting this game. i got the first GW, but it had been out for a while and i barely played it. those who know more about the game than i, am i going to be missing much by not really having played the first? is there any advantage to playing it a while before GW2 comes out?

You get item rewards for various tasks in GW1, but starting fresh...that could take a long long time to complete (30 total points for all of the bonus items).

Though some can be had really easily. Story wise, you might miss some lore, I guess, but nothing big. I skipped most of the cutscenes after one play through on each and even then, barely paid attention to them.

The play style should also be quite different with the removal of dedicated roles. The skill and build system of GW is the largest, most important part of the game, though again--the way it changes with GW2 may not require you to have some experience with it.

If you need help getting started somewhere let me know (in regards to GW1). Otherwise as Zin said besides the smaller skill bars it seems like not much is the same between GW1 and 2.

Gz. 🙂

Now got get that "M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL! Seriously, you crazy."

You know you want it. 😛

what does this refer to?

I'm at 32 now--no real desire to get any more points, but I do want to finish up the hard mode missions and a bit of vanquishing (at least finish cantha vanquishing).

this would give me 4 or more titles completed, but I think that still won't give me another HoM point.

I discovered a few days ago that they must have changed the mechanics of the Survivor title (long time ago, actually, lol). I discovered that I was "in contention" for it.

Kind of lame that they change it from one shot-only title to reset and start over if you want, and added another tier. But, now that I hit rank 1, I kind of want to go through and max it out....2x xp with elite caps this week should help (really need to up my skill caps on my main, anyway, hah!)

I want it!!!

This game is taking too long to arrive. I'm a bit nervous I'll get too wrapped up in Diablo3 waiting for this one.

I'm getting both and will enjoy both - they're different enough for me to go back and forth and not get bored on gameplay 🙂

That being said - a release date estimation for GW2 would be good to know...lol

From everything I've read they're having more beta weekends before launch. Under assumption that they want to give the pre-purchase people some more testing first it would be some time during the end of spring/start of summer. Either ways I think DIII and GW2 might have conflicting launch schedules. But in the end DIII will be incomplete and hopefully GW2 will be all good to go.

D3 is May 15th, so unless there will only be 1 month worth of beta weekend testing for pre-orderers, I see it being a bit farther out.

There was always 2 tiers of survivor. Legendary defender of ascalon is now also possible due to a daily quest in pre without death levelling.

That monster kill refers to the 50/50 HoM.

On topic: Apparently Anet is removing the side kicking up feature. It isn't something that break the game (dunno how useful it would be) but it was an interesting feature.

Hopefully next BWE is 20th of April (according to the rumour mill) and pre purchasers will have access, so not long to go...

I'm going to need the beta weekends just to nail down my main class. Loved my warrior in GW1 but enjoyed my necro as well. Add to that that the new Thief class looks pretty badass and I'm torn.

And that's just my first inclinations. All of them look fun as hell.
