See #4.

As an aside to the discussion, as told as only Chris Pratt could tell it:

Weekend at Tony's!

I've seen that fan fiction version of what they thought should have happened, but Marvel has completely denied that was ever on the table. They did say that what ended up being post-credits in IM3 wasn't what they originally wanted to do but they've also said it wasn't that. Besides as they're not making a Howard the Duck movie shows, not every end scene is a launching point.

We have a little kid so it's been difficult to get a time to see this movie. I wanted to see this movie myself, but my wife vetoed that because she wanted to see it with me. So, we've been waiting to find someone to babysit the little one while we went to the movie... but then a friend told her something about the move, and now my wife has changed her mind, and I'm back to going to see it on my own again.

I have three options within reasonable driving distance:

Regular 2D
Regular 3D
IMAX 3D

Problem is 3D often gives me a headache, and furthermore I generally dislike movies that aren't built for 3D when they are 3D-ified. In the latter case I'd rather just go see it in 2D. OTOH, I saw Gravity in 3D IMAX, and thought it made use of the 3D really well, and I didn't get a huge headache either.

Is Guardians of the Galaxy worth seeing in 3D, and particularly, 3D IMAX? If so then I'll pick a 3D IMAX theatre. (Further away, and parking not free.) If not, I'll just go to a decent local theatre in 2D.

I saw it in 3D and it did very little, aside from one or two brief moments. I would say skip it and go 2D. I also found the 3D muted the colours in this one and it being such a good looking, colourful film, that kind of sucked.

Saw it last night with the son (13yrs old).
We both loved it.
We're familiar with the Marvel world mostly through the movies and not the comics themselves so we missed a lot of the "intertwining", hints and Easter eggs scattered throughout. In fact my kid had to explain all the infinity stone overlapping to me (I've seen the Avengers etc, but I dont recall much about them)

Honestly, this was a 10/10 movie for me

Disclaimer: I'm a huge Chris Pratt fan, so I knew he'd just kill in this role.

Saw it in 2D and 3D, i'd recommend the 3D

HTTYD2 was better in 3D. I haven't seen GotG yet. Probably never will. :( Still not opening spoilers though.

I saw it last night, not sure what to expect because nothing ever lives up to the hype. It didn't make me come in my pants, but it was good, probably the first "popcorn flick" I've really liked. I'm going to make a point of seeing this again later with some friends and drinks.

Isn't that a good thing, though? Or did you think you were going to a different type of theater?

Any activity that doesn't rouse my testes from their slumber is considered a bad activity in my book! You don't want to know how disappointing writing this post was... or was it? >_<

You guys referring to Phanuel's reference here, or the actual joke int he film?

--I got them both, and I chuckled both times, btw. :Colbert:

I was referring to the joke in the film, but Phaneul's reference could be just as easily used.

Actually the 3D option at my local theatre is UltraAVX. I think it is 4K high frame rate 3D with a better sound system. No regular cheap 3D option.

If this were 2D I'd be all in but it isn't. Plus it's $5 more. I'm now sitting in the regular 2D theatre but the previews are pretty good looking. I'm guessing digital 4K too or else possible just high quality 2K. Good colour and contrast too not those crappy low contrast 9th gen prints. We will see in a few minutes how good the actual movie looks but does anyone know what the standard is these days for most better quality 2D?
