because 7970 is terrible for non overclocker users like me ...

60 fps average is great then .... if u never got below 50 in bf3 .... well .. that is ideal :) for me ...

I don't get it, You stated a month ago that you wanted to keep your i7 950 (which is a good chip) and upgraded to a 3770, now you want to go from a 7970 to a 670? Is this daddys money your playing with or do you just like blowing money? Overclock what you have and be done with it.

Edit: Gotcha you sold your 7970, since its gone you can't go wrong with the 670ftw, I have no regrets.

$550ish I think 1400mhz is with in reach on stock volts..

People have been touching 1500mhz on water. And it has dual Bios.. One guy got 1800mhz out of it with Ln2.

There is one draw back... it has No Dual link Dvi so if u have a 2560x1440 panel you would have to buy a Active display port to DL Dvi adaptor.
Other wise it supports hdmi Normal dvi /vga and display port.

My GTX670 FTW did dip below 50fps in Gulf of Omen and Sharqi Penninsula. It actually touched the high 30fps with the same CPU I have below. The 680 was similar but it was around the low 40s. It felt smooth though.

AMD's new beta drivers addresses the slow performance in BF3. It is now as smooth as the GTX670 and 680.

dude .. i got 7970 .... and i will never buy amd again ... my gtx 480 has better framerates in BF3 then 7970 .... don't believe me ? no problem ... but i saw my self and believe my eyes ... will never ever have again deal with AMD...

If your grammar was better maybe people could understand you. From this paragraph it's sounds like you have a 7970. Just trying to give my opinion, isn't that why you posted in a public forum?

OP said he didn't want to overclock so a cheaper card may suit him better.

Well yeah, if encounter multiple explosions it will dip into the high 30s. The GTX 480 at stock will dip into the mid 20s.

At this point I would not buy a EVGA card. I'd go MSI TF.

When I bought my first GTX 670 SC it was under $380 and I had to RMA it and they replaced it with a FTW. I got another FTW with some amazon gift cards for again under $380.

I would not spend $400+ on a EVGA card even if they have good service. I'd go with something like an MSI Power Edition, maybe even an Asus DCII. These cards heat up tremendously, something I did not think about before. The Asus and MSI cards stay a lot cooler. You might spend a little more initially but the MSI cards have a $25 rebate which brings the price equal to a EVGA FTW 670.

with no doubt msi is one of the best brand for overclock , but im looking for card with high stock clocks ... i mean with the best stock OC performance ....

cause im noob and prefer cards like plug and play ( no sarcasm ) :)

Problem is, the FTW cards will throttle sooner because they run hotter and will be a lot louder. Up to you though. Even though the base clock is higher it doesn't mean the card will boost the same as my card or someone else's card. I have two identical cards and at the same overclock they boost to different levels.

Just FYI: The MSI card comes clocked higher than the FTW card out of the box(base clock).

hm what about zotac amp edition ??? cooling is better then ftw has and core and memory clocks are even higher .... yes it costs a bit expensive but ....

msi is not a bad idea ..i had twin frozen cards before .... they really have good cooling system :)

Zotac cooler is about middle of the road overall when it comes to temps and noise. I'd still go Asus or MSI.

Hear how they sound with video here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-670-test-review,3217-14.html

Pretty good temp when overclocked

Noise levels around middle of the pack when overclocked.

below are noise levels at stock (worse than reference cooler)

but well i don't care about noise and temps to.. i mean .. if i even don't touch card and don't
OC it .... temp will not be so high to damage card i guess :)

Even stock on release drivers the 7970 was ~39% faster than a 480. Something's wrong somewhere. You got a bad card or there's something else wrong with your setup.

The PCS+ comes clocked @ 1100MHz out of the box, has arguably the best cooler in the industry, and is $450. Which is regular retail for a reference 7970. There's also the 7970GE's starting at the same price. Even if you don't want to O/C.

TechPowerUp release review.

If you just simply dislike AMD and prefer nVidia then the 670 is the other option. Just get one on a full size PCB models like the Gigabyte.

Yeah, that's my guess too. It can't be heat or lacking power, because the 480 seems to work fine. Iirc, the 7970 was within a few fps of the 670 on launch drivers, so if the 7970 didn't seem good enough for you, the 670 won't be noticeably better.

That said, the 670 is the best card in that range if you're absolutely against manual overclocking.
