Just got GT5, but haven't played it yet. Gotta hook my PS3 back up to my monitor so I can use my wheel. Haven't played F1 yet, but Dirt 2 looked amazing even in DX10(Got a GTX260). I'm interested to see how GT5 compares to F1 2010 on a monitor when I get F1 in the near future.

In sheer technical detail, Dirt2 and F1 on a good PC rig will still trump GT5. That said, the polish and presentation of GT5 is amazing, and most people just walking by both would be if anything more impressed by GT5. It's amazing what can be squeezed out of essentially an old 7800-era GPU, a small amount of ram, and a relatively weak but heavily multithread-capable CPU.

I'd say that it depends on the size of the screen and their distance to the screen. If the screen is big enough/close enough you'd notice that there's a lot more detail in Dirt2/F1 as well as a clearer picture.

This is a comparison between F1 2010 on PS3, PC and XBox 360. No doubt it is better on a PC, the question is, the gap is not that huge and as Arkaign said, we are talking about a 5 year old system ($200) against a PC when sometimes just the gfx cost $1000. Or its getting hard to make improvements or the PC hardware isnt being optimized at all!

These screenshots are low res. The only way to accurately compare the three is to set them side by side on identical displays and watch them in motion. F1 also doesn't require $1000 in graphics cards to run maxed out btw. This article is also from September which is before the DX11 patch was out for the game. F1 2010 also boasts some incredible rain environments, particularly in DX11.

F1 2010 graphics are awesome imo...at maxed out setting everything looks so real.

I think I have to give Forza3 the nod overall, with GT5 being a close 2nd. Dirt2 and F1 are impressive, but for some reason they have a flatter/more generic and unrealistic presentation in spite of the difference in actual small detail/polygon count. It's really hard for me to put into words. It also frustrates me, as I'm a PC gamer with no consoles at all (well I do have a NES at least).

Why can't they bring Forza to PC (angry face). It would own the shit out of everything at that point.

Reinstalled Dirt 2. Imo it takes the crown because of the scenery. F1 2010 may be more refined and have more effects, but the courses generally seem rather bland. Play both at 1080p, ultra preset dx11 and 8xaa with 60fps.

GT5 looks great for a console though, but not near pc standards.

@Busy

GT5 looks as good if not better than that screen.

Think you have to see it in person to truly appreciate the difference. I've taken SS of Dirt 2 and F1 and when you look at them they don't seem that different to GT5. When you put F1 and GT5 on the big screen, and swap inputs back and forth, the difference is huge. Even my friends that only play console games had to agree.

Dirt 2 and F1 2010 have the best looking graphics for a racing game I've ever seen.

I've seen videos of GT5, it looks pretty good, but doesn't really compare to the aforementioned PC games. Actually, some of the "standard" cars in GT5 look terrible.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is blind, or hasn't actually seen the games in motion. Show me Gran Turismo 5 running at 60+ frames/sec at 1920x1080 resolution.

GT5 might have Dirt 2 beaten on car models, but Dirt 2's scenery looks drop-dead gorgeous. I can't wait to see F1 2010 in DX11. Hopefully I can convince a friend of mine with a DX11 card to let me play it.

Actually it doesn't. In DiRT 2 you can see suspension arms, axles, the under body of the car even the tire tread. Ill upload pics soon.

I still have yet to play GT5 or Dirt 2 DX11. I'm tempted to get a GTX570 in the near future or something heh. I love the blistering fast frame rates in Dirt 2, not terribly hard to run(in DX9 at least).

DiRT2 is fairly easy on the current cards.. even GTX 460/6850/6870 can run them comfortably at ultra settings+max AA/AF with 50-60 FPS@1080P..

Yeah, I considered picking up a 768MB GTX460 for $150, but I don't think it would be enough of an upgrade over my GTX260. I think I'm gonna wait until I'm no longer happy with its performance.

Heck, my 5770 can run it comfortably on Ultra settings, 4xAA at 1680x1050.
