They also recommend (and by recommend say 'if you want your powertrain warranty)after every track day. I have a friend with a GTR who is on his 3rd set of fluid in the first year of ownership.

The car costs over $70,000 dollars. Anyone who spends that kind of money on a car doesn't need to worry about a meager 2,000 service.
Oh wait, we live in a country where people making $50,000 a year think they can finance anything, even a car that costs twice what they make in a year and depreciates like mad.

You're crazy. $2k for something that's not even a major service is expensive even if you paid cash for the car. $2k for fluid changes? I would laugh too.

That's actually pretty true. Full brake service on something like a GT-R or ZR-1 is astonishingly expensive as well.

I'd love to see the cost of those Buggati and Ferrari FXX rotors on the ZR1.

According to this site it's $102.
Why would you need stainless steel lines as part of maintenance?

3% of the cost of the vehicle for routine maintenance? That's atrocious.

well the dealers prices are always inflated. many of those fluids and the filter can be found cheaper online. and anyone that drives a GT-R should be able to do their own fluid maintenance on their own.

The "entry level' for any Ferrari is over $5k per year, $2k is not at all unreasonable for what the GT-R is.
A vette driven normally is a mechanic nearly no maintenance cost, but if you track it, it will destroy your pocketbook nearly as fast. My cousin has a track in England that he has quite a collection of cars you can rent for the weekend, the vette's brakes alone are over 1200 pounds a year, nearly $2500.
The first bite came in August 2000, five months after the warranty expired. At 13,637 miles, the owner brought the car in for a 15,000-mile service, two rear tires, and an oil, filter, and coolant change for $2,665.70. Two months later, in October, at 17,220 miles, noisy cam belts and bearings were replaced at no cost (thanks to a warranty extension by Ferrari). The windshield washer reservoir was also replaced for $529.25. A month later, in November, at 17,618 miles, the front spoiler and three wheels were refinished because of road-rash, at $1,285. Total for the first year out of warranty, and about 4,000 miles: $4,479.95, or $1.12 per mile.
The fluids can be found cheaper online, but as soon as you take your GT-R in for a warranty claim, Nissan will deny you service because you decided to purchase your stuff online instead of at the dealership...
