Groupon

Yeah it was just the wording that gots me confused. It's not really $25 off $50 like I thought. It's $25 for $50 (i guess a giftcard of some sort). Groupon isn't a coupon at all (at least not in this case).

Not. a. big. deal. Relax.

you give groupon $25

you get a piece of paper "25 off 50"

you go to store and buy something for 50

you give store groupon

you leave.

exactly what we're all saying .. OP is silly.

This scenario is what I originally thought, and that scenario would not make any sense.

There are some stupid fucks in this forum. Jesus.

You pay $25.

You bring $50 voucher into store. You find something worth $50. You give them voucher.

You've still only paid $25 for $50 worth of merchandise.

If someone reads this and STILL doesn't get it, well... kill yourself.

I see now, here is an example:

http://www.groupon.com/charlotte/deals/new-balance-store-charlotte

Basically you give them $25, they give you a coupon worth $50, like everyone in the first 1/3 of this thread were explaining. OP worded it like you were getting $25 off of a $50 purchase.

Right. So there's no deal at all. You're just paying 25 dollars for a coupon for 25 dollars off a purchase of 50 bucks.

25 dollars money out to groupon
50 dollars out money to buy at store
75 dollars money out
then 25 dollars off
=50 dollars

$25 for $50 worth is different from
$25 off $50 worth when you are paying $25 for the coupon

save 25 off 50 is correct but that wording is needlessly complicated

in that scenario you are paying $50 for $50...

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

You paid $25 for the groupon up front

you put $50 of product in a bag

You give store groupon that you paid $25 for

net cost = $25 for $50 of stuff.

Right. So there's no deal at all. You're just paying 25 dollars for a coupon for 25 dollars off a purchase of 50 bucks.

25 dollars money out to groupon

What? You are paying $25 for essentially a $50 gift card at New Balance.

$25 out to Groupon
$50 Groupon to store

Total $25 outlay by you.

KT

You're buying an item for $75
25 dollars money out to groupon
gets you a $50 groupon

you go to store, give them "25 off 50 groupon" and get a $50 groupon credit
your balance due is $25

net cost = $50 for $75

*facepalm*

ftfy

I can confirm 100% this is how it works since I did it twice in 2 weeks.

dude are you trolling or what? re-read your shit

even the op understands it now and knows what you wrote is wrong lol

no i'm not trolling WTF are you talking about.

you want me to scan you a receipt or something?

I don't understand the confusion here.

You are not buying a coupon. You are essentially buying a half priced gift card.

Right. So there's no deal at all. You're just paying 25 dollars for a coupon for 25 dollars off a purchase of 50 bucks.

25 dollars money out to groupon
50 dollars out money to buy at store
75 dollars money out

=50 dollars

Things over in P&N are starting to make a whole lot more sense.. :hmm:

Yes. I think you're in the wrong here. 25 dollars off 50 dollars when you're paying 25 dollars for 75 dollars off 50 dollar purchase minus groupon still means you pay 100 dollars for 75 dollars worth of stuff.

no deal.

This is just sooooo full of win!!!!! This thread actually made me smile 🙂

But if this thread has any seriousness to it........
If it cost $25 dollars for a $50 dollar gift certificate = PROFIT!
If it is a certificate that cost $25 to get $25 off a $50 dollar purchase = FAIL

That said, I am pretty sure groupon would not sell you a $25 dollar off coupon for $25 dollars.

By the way, Whos on first?

oh my god how about a real life example here?

I bought a nordstrom rack groupon. $25 for $50 worth of stuff.

I went to nordstrom rack. I "bought" a pair of shoes for $75. When I went to pay, I gave them my groupon. It came up as a nordstrom rack gift card for $50.

The balance due was $25.

My total out of pocket expense was $50 for $75 shoes.

If I'm confusing ya'll with the usage of the word "buy" then I apologize.

WTF are you talking about? It's plain as day looking at the link, or if you've ever used it before. I don't understand why this is so hard... 😕

if the piece of paper says 25 off 50, you don't have a deal...sigh

like we discussed, groupon's are 25 FOR 50 not off

Think of it this way. I go to a store and there's a gift card I want to a store I like that has a 50.00 value. I bring it to the register and it rings up for 25.00. I still get the full 50.00 value at the store the gift card is honored at but my total out of pocket is only 25.00

Yes, Spidey! You are right! Millions of people use Groupon and Google just tried to buy Groupon for $5 Billion. And it's all based on tricking people into paying full-retail prices (or even more!) for items and making them think they are getting a discount.

Nearly everyone involved is a complete and utter moron, but you - you've figured it all out! Soylent Green is made from people!
