Sourdough with lots of butter and sliced pepperjack.

I like the sourdough good and crispy, not soggy.

While also tasty, that's not a grilled cheese sandwich. That's a quesadilla.

For God's sake Napoleon, go make yourself a danged "case-uh-dilla"!

haha beat me to it

do you really want to be eating chimy chaingahs for the rest of the year?

The Velveeta pre-packaged slices work good too, for those of us who are lazy :p

I'm there, too. I'm starving now and I won't be able to eat dinner for 2 hours at the very least. :(

I use plain white bread, cheddar, tuna fish, and crumbled bleu cheese. Cook with butter on iron griddle. Good with some tomato soup, add a little cream, red wine, and marjoram and you're set.

Sounds like a Tex-Mex case-a-dilla.

I've had boring grilled cheese all my life. I guess it's time for me to make the deluxe version.

Typically I just do the 2 slices of cheese, butter both sides of the bread & cook. But the onion & dijon mustard recipe sounds tempting, might make myself one tonight when I get home.

Also, as big a cheese fan as I am, there is just something amazing about making grilled cheese with Velveeta.

Sometimes I tuck tomato, bacon or bread and butter pickles into them.

I just had two grilled cheese sandwiches:

1) Old fashioned: butter, cheese, and bread
2) New fangled: mayonnaise, cheese, and bread

The second one actually tasted a little bit like good french toast, which was nice. Besides that, the only difference was that the bread wasn't as soaked in fat, which wasn't as nice. :) Overall, a very worthy substitute for those who don't have butter or want to save money, but I think I'll stick with butter.

I always go

Butter
Bread
Cheese
Bread
Butter

It's sort of the palendrome of the sandwich world.

However, you guys are freaking me out with this talk of mayo and mustard. I've never heard of mustard on the inside of a grilled cheese, and DEFINITELY never heard of mayo on the outside, but guess it's worth a shot.

I use the Forman grill sometimes, but usually I like to fix it in a pan.

I heat up the pan, then put some butter in the pan so the sandwich doesn't stick.

2 pieces of cheese then cook it in the pan.
