Dammit. Now im mad that I sold my xbox and Forza so soon. I'd gotten tired of playing Forza, but still. Now I've got no racing until whenever GT5 eventually makes its way onto shelves..

GOD DAMMIT SONY

:D

Im confident we will be playing it before xmas
Sorry, but we have to get to this. Nov. 2 was the last release date for Gran Turismo 5. What's the reason for the latest delay?
It was really to adjust it so it would be perfect. The first game that I made was Motor Toon Grand Prix for the first PlayStation. The year and a half that it was in development, the last three months as the release date approached, myself and my staff were getting three hours of sleep a day to try and get the game done. Near the end, the people from Sony came to our development studio and told us it was good enough and that we could release it. At the time, I probably wasn't thinking very clearly, being as exhausted as I was, and I talked myself into thinking this was good enough and it went to release.
But all the things I thought were not enough yet, the users said the exact same thing when the game came out. That was something I regretted very much when that happened because I knew it was coming. And that happened at the beginning of my career, and it was something I vowed would never happen again.

Is that why they're taking so long? He hasn't heard of internet updates or DLCs? I'm sure the game was delayed from Spring 2010 to Fall 2010 in order to add 3D capability in GT5, but that could've also been added via an update.

I agree with you but in all fairness, GT5 is hyped beyond belief so they know it has to be the best in every aspect possible. It seems like they're trying to cram every little thing in the release and haven't even thought about updates or DLC since he's still probably used to no game updates. It's just ridiculous how long it's taken and how many times it's been pushed back and because they've pushed it back so much, we expect it to be perfect in every way to warrant the delay.

I'm not sure that it could have been easily added via DLC, and it was Sony (not PD) that pushed for it to be added as far as I know...

Will we be able to customize the exteriors of the cars? Body kits, lights (I don't think any racing game has ever let you customize lights before), exhaust, spoiler, rims, paint, window tint, decals etc. ?

24th is an interesting date. On a wednesday but that's in less than two weeks so that's awesome. Time to trade in Prologue.

It's smart. People are on thanksgiving break so will have time to get it Wed and play it through the weekend. Then they now cover BF for people starting christmas shopping and they can pick it up for themselves and others on their list.

Wings, wheels and aero kits only... and that's only on premium cars. :hmm:

Some of my favorite race cars are standard only which kinda sucks but the ones that really matter for me are premium so I don't mind. :awe:

Ahh thank you for that. Much better list than the ones I have found so far.

I just went through the list and they made multiple premium cars of basically the same car just different years, multiple RX-7's, Skylines, GTI's, etc. Seems retarded to do that. I really hope they update a lot of the cars to premium.

It does seem like if Kazunori was allowed to push back the release date again to add more features then that's what he would've preferred since not all tracks have the dynamic time/weather effects either.

I think we should lock this thread and start a new race night thread around launch. With the delay, this thread got a little "off track"....
