Just came back from seeing this. What a brilliant movie. Even in his old age he can act in and direct a masterpiece that most big budget films can't even compare to. It's movies like these that remind me just how much more important story-telling is to special effects and cgi. to Eastwood, he pretty much carried this whole movie by himself.

just saw it, and completely agree. Will be a dark day when he goes. Film-making in this country will suffer terribly. 🙁

He is pretty old too but still does great with acting! He aged very well.

I watched it last night.
I loved the main character.

It wasn't Amazing, but it was a good movie.

Speaking of which, I got most of the derogatory and racist remarks but I've never heard of zipperhead which was thrown around quite a few times. As an asian myself I've never heard that used but if I had to guess it has to do with how asians gel their hair to look spikey? Anyone got insight into this one?

Why is labeled Hmong people rather that just Hmong?

What are you getting at? Is there some translation issue or something? Because I don't see anything wrong with it. Wikipedia seems to be inconsistent with how articles about people groups are named. This one includes people:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_people
This does not (and is plural):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germans
This does not (and is singular):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jew
This does not (and uses a collective noun):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amish

It could be to distinguish Hmong people from the Hmong language (another article). Germans is pluralized to distinguish from the language, and the Jewish language has an entirely different name. Following that pattern though, the Catalan people article should probably be Catalans. It could just be because the guy who created the article named it that. If you don't like it, you can start a discussion on the talk page and it may be moved to a more appropriate name.

OMFG SOYL...err HMONG IS PEOPLE.

How do you pronounce Hmong?

The H is silent so it's basically mong. No relationship to Mongolian though.

And yes, I am Hmong.

well forgive me for not knowing the names of different ethnic groups from East Asia...

We will forgive you for that. We won't forgive you for being a slack-jawed troglodyte who has apparently never heard of Google, Yahoo, Altavista, Metacrawler, Lycos, MSN, Excite, Ask.com, or any other search engine from the past decade.

You may have heard the more common, abbreviated form. Watch the ginal battle in Platoon: "Be advised, we've got *ips in the wire".

Glad to see that my thread is getting a lot of action.

Me and a buddy caught the Wrestler last night and it was very good. Rourke does an amazing job portraying a washed up 80's mega wrestler battling with physical, monetary and family issues.

I still liked Torino better. I thought the story of the Wrestler was better then Button and Slumdog but both of those movies were produced better.

I'm sure Rourke is going to give Eastwood a run for his money for best male actor at this year's Academy Awards. I also heard Penn did an amazing job in Milk but I haven't seen that film yet.

Man, I sure did see a lot of movies this past year (and into this year as well). Thankfully my local movie theater has coupons for cheap tickets.

The Wrestler looks great, but I dislike Evan Rachel Wood. I know, stupid reason not to watch it...

She has a very small (yet important) part. She's not on the screen much so no need to worry.
