Gotta love old tech

I'm running a E2140 (a gift from VirtualLarry) and its load is only 35C

Ivy bridge now runs 50-65 at load.

Gotta love old tech.

Trollolololol...

Seriously? You can't even compare the workload those processors will handle. IB will get the same work done faster and then sit idle (cool) while the E2140 still chugs along under load for a while.

facepalm

Didn't your parents tell you not to accept candy from strangers? 😛

Depending on what load you're talking about, my IB at stock with fans set at a static 400RPM and playing Minecraft would only be about 45C max. Leaves me room to run a server concurrently as well, let us see if a dual core can do that without chugging.

Meh. Parents won't let me upgrade. -___-

People on this forum jumped on IB like it's some new holy scripture or something, I find that annoying.

SB rules!

I never said IB is better than SB...just that it's better than the old C2D architecture.

Question - which ran hotter at stock under load - Q6600 or 3570K?

Here, let me emphasize the important keyword. You've come to a computer hardware forum and not expect to see something new that is related to a computer hardware? Let me be clear that I'm not here to support IB but it is the obvious choice since I do not have SB to begin with.

If they got a bargain for something that they bought then they should tell others so that they could also get them cheap. Everyone loves a bargain regardless of where you're from.

Except IB burns a hole in your mobo 😀

I expect discussions, not that everybody has the money or time to get something new each month. But hey, it IS a hardware forum, that's true. The thing is many people bought IB as a replacement for SB.

Like I said, USA only. No bargains like that in most of the other countries.

Perhaps they wanted the ability to toast marshmallows while gaming? 😉

My god, you were right!

They have the money for that kind of hobby, let them be. It is no different from questioning a photography forum on why should you get the top of the line DSLR when an entry level DSLR could do the same job. Heck, even a point and shoot does the job too but then you're asked to do a bokeh with a PnS. Either spend it or hobbyists would be having a wad of cash as a paperweight on their table. Money isn't fun till you actually spend it.

Reviews only tell so much about the product and it is nothing compared to hands on experience with the product and your claims of benchmark xxx are not from thin air. Besides it could also be an early indicator of whats to expect of Haswell, the ups and downs of Trigate and the 22nm process. Everything might be different with Haswell but it gives an early insight to whats its limitations might or might not be.

You realize load doesn't mean 2 browser windows open right? Unless you have crazy cooling on that low-powered 2C, I call shens. It is a 65w TDP CPU.

This is a total troll post. 'Hey, let's compare a 2C (cache-starved), low-clocked CPU from multiple generations ago against a mid to high-end 4-core CPU running at 2x the speed.

You've got to realize something.. These "enthusiasts" around here buy these outrageously over-powerful PC's not for functionality, but to express themselves to others, through what they buy.

Thus explaining why inferior pc components would make them feel that others will view them as being inferior as human beings. D:

They are so born and bred to support the "latest and greatest" product being promoted their way, that they actually develop hostility towards older technology as you can see demonstrated in this very thread.

You are so getting a +1 for that.
