Again you chose your job field and have no one to blame but yourself.

Listen dude, I'm not against your job. I'm against your attitude that it's great that your job gets gains from big oil and gas rises while the rest of the US economy goes down the crapper. Maybe one day, we'll stand up and get rid of the oil and your job and attitude can go to hell with it.

Too blind to see over your own short greed that it's kicking the crap out of the rest of the country...but what do you care...you're doing great because of it and want it to go even higher. Well, in that regard, I hope it shoots high enough that we finally get a REAL energy policy that starts to move us off of the stupid oil.

Well, you better get rid of electricity, gas pipelines, industrial/household chemicals, and the paper industry too. The company I work for is well positioned those areas as well.

I'm sure you're rooting for those prices to go up too. :whiste:

I never said it was. Again, it's the attitude, not the job.

Exactly, it's shit birds like him and the CEOs that the country will rise up and rally against.

It's getting closer everyday and gas at $5 and $6 will do it, guaranteed that's why Police depts have been conducting riot drills at gas stations across the country and Obama has the National Guard getting fortified as well as help from Canada.

You think the news feeds from other Countries looks bad, wait till the world sees uprising in the U.S.

Or American will rise up against doomsayers like you that encourage the speculators to drive up the oil prices.

Yes, you and your ilk encourage the speculators as they prey upon your fears of astronomical oil/gas prices.

Says the ass on the sidelines cheering the ever rising gas prices for his own personal benefit at the expense of the country.

I never cheered rising oil/gas prices, I just stated I'm in a field that derives income from the oil companies. When oil companies have more money they tend to spend it on new machinery and maintenance. I also live in an area that doesn't have the high transportation costs or taxes on gas.

Yes you did, you can't take back any of your drivel now. Hell you are still spewing it, "I also live in an area that doesn't have the high transportation costs or taxes on gas."

You've been busted harder than if you were on MythBusters itself.

I just noticed the second half of your sig

"If everyone in the US went to college, we would have the most educated McDonalds and Walmart employees in the world."

Going to get interesting.

How are people on McD and Walmart wages going to get to work when they can't fill their tank because it will cost more to fill the car than their paycheck?

Don't know. IMO, the $4 gallon gas was what broke the economic bubble in 2007/2008 and it will kill any chance the economic recovery in the near future. Wages are not rising (except Londo's) and prices (especially food and gas) are rising like hell right now. That's just wonderful for an economy that is (sadly) built around 70% consumerism. Of course, those people will now be spending more on fuel and less on anything else. I guess it could be not so bad since most of what they spend on comes from China and other third world producing countries anyway.

its already $50 a tank for me, and i have to fill up 3 times a week to get to work everyday and back. if gas goes to $5, ill be spending about $700 a month in gas. which means i wont make enough money to pay the bills. which means i would have to quit my job and find something more local. which means i will never have the money to move to a city that has better jobs. which means i might as well just give up now to be honest. im getting really tired of this

It's all your fault. You should have chosen your career better and one that's in the oil services business.

Wow, a bunch of different issues here.

First I hope you don't get discouraged by the very negative comments that will be coming your way from the resident Republican rich on here that benefit from raping you in gas prices.

Short term, any way to get a motorcycle to mitigate your gas expense?

Sounds like it is already more than 50% of your wages to begin with.

What city are you in and what city do you feel has better jobs that want to move to?

Guys I'm trying to convince a friend it's because of speculation; can anyone show me definitive proof, something along the lines of contracts being rolled over until it got to $150/barrel would help me. I'm not sure how to find that sort of information.

What is MPG of your car and how far do you live from work?

Based on what you posted you use around 240 gallons of gas per month - which is IMO pretty crazy.

Don't give up hope yet.

These kinds of problems are exactly what is caused by the republican /democrat division. Nation wide planning of industries locations and village location is very important and should be stimulated and lobbied for. And is forgotten to often how important this is. The government should be stimulating the economy by helping investors create homes near work or work near homes. Relocation projects are perfect native in border projects where on the long term a lot of money can be made from through returned investments. The issue is to create stable jobs where the jobs can account for the return of investments with interests over the years. I mean if a relocated population needs to pay back for 25 years, then it must be ensured that the jobs are also available for at least the next 25 years (investors point of view). Afcourse the jobs are preferred to be around longer than that. It is all about giving the insurance that the investors receive the money back. And that is where the power of an ethical government can come in. If that insurance is not guaranteed , investors prefer short term profits. Because why should they have to carry the risks. And i would not be surprised if this mentality is stronger among investors then ever because of the lies of the bank managers.

This all requires long term intelligent planning within different fields with the right laws. I am sure in parts of the US and the EU this happens, but i am also sure that it is not happening enough to make a difference.

"Approximately 60 to 70 percent of the oil contracts in the futures markets are now held by speculative entities. Not by companies that need oil, not by the airlines, not by the oil companies. But by investors that are looking to make money from their speculative positions," Gilligan explained.

Gilligan said these investors don't actually take delivery of the oil. "All they do is buy the paper, and hope that they can sell it for more than they paid for it. Before they have to take delivery."
=====================================

All your friend has to do is look in any harbor such as Houston.

They have had hundreds of Oil Tankers sitting for nearly a year. They can't unload because the oil tanks on land have been full for years now.
