Gas prices in Western Tennessee are in the high $2 range with some at or slightly above $3 a gallon. I am tempted to trade in my car for a hybrid (not because of present prices, but because what they MAY become), but I think I'll just ride things out for now.

Well the good thing is without jobs to go to you won't notice as much. Never-mind paper, corn, beans etc has gone up 50% since last year.

I used to be able to get a pound of beans for 60 cents just a year ago or so. Now it is just about double that. I think it is time to start growing my own. Need some more land though...

Considering that food costs are going up and with inflation and all that, is it possible that land will become a valuable investment?

Oil companies are the company I work for biggest clients. I would say over 65% of my income is derived from work on equipment that belongs to the oil companies.

In other words, it makes you happy when oil prices are high and helping to smack the rest of what's left of the US economy into the ground? Bravo.

When oil prices rise our business booms as the oil companies buy more equipment and put more money into maintaining existing equipment.

and the REST of the US economy suffers...but why worry about LITTLE shit like that. Again, bravo.

Besides install spyware on client's computers and help install telco hardware that is now used to spy on Americans via the unPatriot Act? Not much.

Don't know about the hardware side but the "spyware" is not correct. Seti, even though installed without permission, is not spyware. Ok, back to rising oil prices helping to kill the US economy even more...already in progress.

Gas prices: Bracing for more pain at the pump

Drivers may be bracing for more pain at the pump in 2011 as gas prices continue to head higher.

Platts senior oil analyst Linda Rafield attributes some of the spike in oil prices to speculation.

"That can push prices to a level that doesn't reflect supply and demand," Rafield said.

Doesn't matter as long as Londo Jowo's company is doing well and he gets a pay raise.
