I wish I could say things will be better when you finish high school, but let's face it - your headed for a life of repeated failures. You'll never amount to anything because you showed up late for your job at McDonald's.

The onyl person responsible for your life is yourself. You can't hang your head and feel bad about yourself. Everyone gets kicked in the stomach once in a while. It's not about getting put down, it's about how you react to negativity. Get back out there and find another job. Don't give up. Put in applications and call them a few times a week to show ambition.

Your parents might be tough on you, and not show you the support you would like, but you can't let them hold you back.

Good luck.

Take it in the positive sense. You can afford to make mistakes when you are 19. You cannot afford to do this when you are 35.

By learning this lesson early in your career, you will become more sincere at the other jobs in your future career.

But the key point here is to identify your mistakes and not to repeat them.

Dude, WTF? being fired was something shameful 40 years ago, when you were expected to retire from the same company that gave you the first job...

Today's workforce is very mobile, for better or worse, and there's enough legislation to protect you from having a black mark on your record... You can go to another bank and work there, if they ask you about this job, it say that you were "downsized"...

As for your parents, you can hold up to them, don't you have anything good bout yourself to show them? Running away over an idiocy like this is a big mistake - but one you'll realize much later in life, when there's nothing you could do to fix it.

Seriously, what's the unemployment rate in your state - 4% ? You'd have to be a hopeless drug addict or a 'professional' hobo to stay without work.

Exactly what kind of job did you have again?

How long were you there?

Did you get any previous warnings?

How late were you to work?

I'm sure you're not the only one who's been fired at 19. I'll bet some people got canned at 16! Don't feel bad... you have the rest of your life ahead of you. There are many other opportunities. Do well in school, get a decent job and then start going to sleep earlier so you get to work on time! 🙂

Seriously though, suck it up, take your lumps. You -were- late right? How many times were you late?

Get a new job, get a paper route, do something. Stay busy.

PM sent. This guy needs real help, not people bitching at him on a forum.

You can't run your life, how can you help him?

wtf are you talking about?
I figure if you can't live up to your username I'll do it for you.

At least, he's helping. What about you?
My advice was on target, factual and prompt.

Run away, run away, run away and save your life...
If you want to crash with your friends for a few days to get out of your parents house, that's fine. But why be dramatic about it. You are an adult, you don't need to run away from anything. You can go anywhere you want.

My suggestion would be to lose any physical vestiges of whatever "desiplaya4life" image you may have, and work toward being a responsible adult. I suspect "getting fired for being late" is misleading, and that it was merely the excuse that triggered this. Your supervisor didn't like you for some reason, and was looking for cause to terminate. This is not the end of the world (even if it seems like it at first); rather, it is simply something you can get past if you just take a hard look at yourself, learn from your mistakes, and don't repeat them. Move onward...

you're asian, good assumption ? Get over it.. most asian parents are hard on their kids to the point you're at. You will be able to move on. Learn to drown them out and move on (not out). Who cares what they say ? What's most important is you need to get control of your life and stop worrying about them first. You're not a kid anymore. Man up and stop acting like you're a victim.

If you leave your house with no plan, that would mark the beginning of a downward spiral. Don't be stupid. Get your head on straight. There will be more jobs but first and foremost - finish school.

Sorry to hear that.

I too have been fired for lateness in the past. 😛
But it was only part time call center work, it wasn't too difficult to get more work.

I'm sure you'll do fine, once you decide to get another job.

CRAAAAAAAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN.
THESE WOUNDS THEY WILL NOT HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!

Grow up dude. You're 19 and you're crying over mommy yelling at you.
