Got FIOS installed today (08/09/06)

I know. It's happend before just from playing CS:S for 4 hours straight (it was a boring day).

If I use BitTorrent and limit the Upload speed to ~10-15kB/s I don't get capped (or throttled, w/e you want to call it).

Question, Does FIOS cap like OOL?

Oh I've had my run-ins with Cablevision. Once FIOS was availble in my area, I switched the next day.

Since getting it a couple of months back, FIOS has not capped me whatsoever.

I hate Cablevision. Fios is still not availible in my area yet :|

FIOS is just ridiculous. 75mbps down next year??!!!!!!!!!!!

My only "high speed" options:

$32.95/mo for 384kbps/128kbps, or $52.95 for 3mbps/384kbps.

Charter is fvcking useless, overpriced garbage.

And weird that Michigan ain't allowing that, fvcking MI sucks.

FIOS is only DSL's fiber.. its not a end-all be-all.... cable will provide fiber soon enough.

I got the notice last week. 5/2@$35, 15/2@$40. There is a deal out there for $29.95 for the first year of 5/2, I have to find it and call'em out. Verizon ran all the optical cables about 4~6 months ago. Now they look for a mass switch over.

I live in Long Beach, Ca.

It'll be great if the power companies get their sh~t together and get their powerline internet rolling. Everyone should be able to use that. I hope the undercut everyone and start a price war.

Fios is currently not available for the state of Colorado. Since Colorado is not within the coverage of Verizon's territory, FiOS will most likely not reach the state of Colorado anytime in the near future.

Btw Comcast is giving me a solid 9/10k down (15k+ with the Powerboost) for $42.95/month, so that's not too bad.

WEP = horrible encryption method for wireless. It's broken with any of a large collection of one-click script kiddy programs. You use it to keep relatives who need assistance turning on a computer from accidentally getting on your router instead of theirs.

Uses a single fiber to the home, one wavelength for transmit, another for receive.

Cable will catch/surpass it soon as they already have the networks in place and can offer the same speeds at a lower price.
