in the first place, why did u ask permission to talk?
u have a RIGHT to talk...only person who can tell u to shutup is when ur in court and
the judge tells u to.

and what were you gonna tell him...so he was rude do you expect him to be nice to you since you broke the law?

he caught you speeding you admit to it...he writes you a ticket, maybe he wasnt in the mood to here any 'excuses' for your behavior

so what is gonna be your excuse to the judge?

since you dont have one why appeal it, just pay it and move on?

dint you have to change lanes to pull over, maybe thats when he got you for not using the blinker, unless you were speedding in the slow lane?

please tell me you are being sarcastic. Most states actually have laws AGAINST traffic ticket quotas. There are more than enough idiot drivers on the road to write tickets to.

The reason he told you that you couldnt talk was there was nothing to debate about. If your conversations in real life are anything like your posts here, you would have ranted on for 4 hours about how your Mazda 6 is such a superior car and you couldnt help but speed.

He told you not to appeal the ticket because a lot of people think that if they just appeal the ticket, the cop will be too busy to show up.

It was sarcastic, but you do have to wonder why you see more pullovers and speedtraps in the last week of the month. I drive 37 miles each way (work) every day, I have had plenty of time to observe this.

what's up with these days and a$$hat cops

How the hell do you know the cop is an asshat? Simply based off of what some dumbass says after being pulled over?

Well given that the guy did not change lanes and the cop said he did on the ticket, I think neutralizer's assessment of the cop is fair.

Sure assuming he did not change lanes at all during the trip seeing as to how he has no idea how long the cop may have been trailing him.

Did you not read how he stated that he did not change lanes? It wasn't that hard to miss.

Whether the cop singled out LOLyourface or not is irrelevant... LOLyourFace was speeding, and he deserved a ticket, end of story...

And I don't remember reading any law that the officer has to be nice when giving out tickets... or he has to listen to all your excuses... LOLyourFace said it himself, it was 5am, the cop was probably tired and wanted to get home... cops are still human you know...

Well first of all the cop was pretty rude, so he seems to be giving the ticket out of annoyance or anger. And I suppose I can ASSUME that LOLyourFace is telling the truth.

Right because we all know anyone busted by the law always accurately depicts exactly what happened.

lol, what's it there to lie about to you ATOT people? I want to accurately depict what happened so I can get some input from You guys,
rolleye.gif

1. I was speeding (i know stupid of me, but it was 5am and I wanted to go home asap

*Admitting you're wrong is a good first step ;)

2. a cop pulls me over

*At 5am no less. You have to consider that the cop is probably just as tired as you are at this point and just a little bit cranky. Granted, it doesn't justify much, but cops are people too.

3. asks for my license and registration

*I'll assume that you were polite and answered, "Yes, officer (sir), may I reach for it?"

4. I hand it to him in a organized fashion

*Excellent. Somtimes that's enough right there to make things go on your favor.

5. He asks me if I had been drinking, while purposely flashing his flashing light into my freaking eyes

*A logical question at 5am for someone speeding and a logical means of detecting the effects of alcohol on someone. Although it's discomforting, shining a flashlight in a drunks eyes will pretty much immediately let you know if they're drunk or not. It's a necessary evil so to speak.

6. He goes away

*Sounds routine, nothing to comment on here.

7. Comes back, and says, "there's no excuse for you for speeding"

*This is very much true, more true than you care to admit probably. At 5am there are many hazards on the road not present during the day (animals, damp road conditions, etc.) that can make it MORE dangerous to speed. In addition to that, speeding doesn't really do much for anyone. Those two or three minutes you probably were going to save wouldn't be worth it if you had hit something or fallen asleep at the wheel.

8. Then I ask, "Can I tell you something sir?"

*Excellent. You may ask this question any time you want, however, if he got you speeding and has hard proof of it, what can you say to him that he hasn't heard a hundred or more times? Especially when you already knew you were wrong.

9. He says, "NO"

*Well within his perview. Matters are to be contested in court, not on the side of a road at 5am as it's not safe. It's not meant to be a "power trip" it's just something the officer doesn't HAVE to deal with under the circumstances. Traffic court is where you can say your piece.

10. "And DO NOT APPEAL this ticket, because I WILL BE THERE"

*This is the only questionable portion of the entire interaction. He didn't have to say this to end the interaction and it ultimately is what left a bad taste in your mouth over the entire incident I think. The rest you probably could have dealt with without being angry/upset about it.

11. Takes off.

I got pulled over and did the usual routine of 'license and registration'

Throughout this event, the cop did two things:

When I asked his permission to say something, he said: NO.
Then he said, "And Do Not appeal this ticket! Because I Will be there."

In what position can he tell me that? And I Am going to appeal because he also wrote me up some some stupid thing I know I did Not do: failure to use signal while changing lanes"

I didn't even change any lanes when I was driving...

You didn't even change lanes? You mean he just BSed the charges? Dispute that, it's worth it on principle alone.

Cops word > yours.

Deal with it.

WTF? That is NOT true. They are absoutely equal. This isn't a fvcking police state, or did I miss something?

yes, he did deserve the ticket, but the cop added an offense, "switching lanes without signaling" to it even tho LOLyourFace didn't do that.

If you were speeding and you got a ticket for it, on what grounds should you be appealing it? I agree that the officer shouldn't have told you not to appeal it, but unless you want to add another hair to the already clogged legal system and give the officer 2 hours overtime, just let it go.

The LOLyourFace shoud appeal that part of the offense... it's as simple as that... If he really didnt do it, it doesnt matter if the cop shows up in court anyways...

Therefore I fail to see the point of this post...

Wow! The two of you will NEVER be allowed on a Jury....Just because a cop says somebody did something does not mean his word is absolute. Cops LIE. Not most of them, but it happens a LOT. ANd, speaking from experience, my testimony in court was taken over the cops word...he was basically proven to be falsifying his testimony.

Their word is of no greater value then anyone elses.

BTW - You are right on one point - Nobody ever said life was fair. The court may still believe the cop, even if he is lying, and in traffic court the burden is on you to prove he's lying - it's a whole 'nother ball game in a criminal case however.

Appeal it! The worst thing that can happen is not getting a reduction. Make sure you send it back in and appeal it.

does that mean he stopped in the lane he was driving in, in order to pull over for the cop.. Dont you have to switch lanes to be pulled over?
