Why would you try to bate me like that? I didn't say and for good reason
It's bait. You said it in your last post so imo it's fair game.
Don't waste your time arguing with the insane.
Lol, even the Mayor can see how asinine this stunt by the Union thugs is.Mayor Tipple says because the city of Wausau pays for a portion of the parade's costs including liability insurance, the event is required to be non-partisan.
August 29, 2011- The City is a co-sponsor of the Labor Day parade event, because we provided the payment for the insurance premium for the event, and we agreed to erect a stage and provide city services at no cost to the Marathon County Central Labor Council.
The banning of a political party from participation at any event co-sponsored by the City is against public policy and not in the best interest of all the citizens of the City of Wausau. And therefore, we encourage the event organizer to invite all interested parties, or reimburse the city for other costs.
/facepalm
It's funny when people like Ausm run around calling others hacks. Fool needs to take a long hard look in the mirror.
They were not banned they just weren't invited to participate in the parade.
Just like Rick Perry's Christian only prayer-a-palooza.
I'll be taking the day off to show my support for unions in the private sector, especially trade unions which I think make valuable contributions toward advancing the trades, preserving wages in the face of rampant illegal immigration, and making sure quality isn't sacrificed for profit.Labor Day is not a family day...(or at least, it wasn't created to be a family day, any more than Memorial Day was created to be a family day.)

All of you union haters should be sure to go to work on that day rather than show solidarity for those union parasites...

Except it's not "just like"
You do realize that the Congressman who was banned has participated before - right? Hmm... but keep thinking people are asked or "invited" to be in a parade... sheesh.
Nothing stopping them from watching in the streets like everyone else. Crybabies!
It's a "holiday" that needs to go away IMO, replace it with something that actually means something.
So being based off a day that helped organized labor usher in the 8 hour work day is a bad thing.
Oops, had it confused with the Haymarket Stikes.
Labor Day was after some government thugs murdered striking workers during the Pullman Riots.
Hey dumbass...if your going to shit on my post take the fucking time to read all the threads I was answering a question.
I'm FOR PRIVATE UNIONS.
I'm AGAINST PUBLIC UNIONS.
I'm FOR Public union employees.
see the distinction? Unions are a good thing when both sides come together and find a mutually beneficial agreement. This doesn't happen all the time in the public arena. Politicians receive donations and other perks and they get votes! The problem is it's not THEIR money they agree to give away as part of the negotiations. It's tax dollars.
That and a lot of long term foresight is foregone in place of short term concessions...
Again with the civil speech. Such a soft spoken person you are. My statement stands.
and? there are many events in our history - do we need a federal day off for all those?
(Reuters) - The mayor of a Wisconsin town said on Tuesday a local labor council would have to reimburse the city up to $2,000 for a Labor Day parade if organizers exclude Republican lawmakers from attending.
The move in Wausau, Wisconsin, came after a county labor official said last week that Republican politicians were not welcome at the event due to their party's stance against collective bargaining when state lawmakers voted to curtail it earlier this year.
Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple told Reuters on Tuesday that the decision to exclude elected Republicans "flies in the face of public policy."
"This is not a political rally, it's a parade, for God's sake," Tipple said, noting that taxpayer money is used by the city to pay for staging the event. Tipple's office is nonpartisan, and he claims no affiliation with either political party.
He said the annual cost of the parade, including insurance, setting up and taking down a stage, and police personnel, runs anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000 each year.
Why can't you understand the Rights hard on with Unions has NOTHING to do with cost and EVERYTHING to do with Election contributions.

Why not? We have federal holidays for fairy tales, why not have ones to celebrate the people fought and bled for workers rights?
Ok..... What does that have to do with his post and imo very valid points.
This may seem odd, but here in Right-to-Work states workers have rights too. But so does the employer; he can't be forced to retain someone, or to lay off on seniority rather than merit, and he has the option of hiring someone who will work to replace someone who won't work. (Just as the employee has the option of sitting down to negotiate terms of employment with his employer, or going to another employer if he is not satisfied with his present one.) Other than that we have pretty much the same rights as in other states, PLUS the right to work for a willing employer in spite of a union's wishes.Because he doesn't believe in ANY worker rights. He is a Right to work backer.
