And the rest of the world shakes its head in wonderment, chewing on its nails, picking at its eyebrows, wondering if the USA is going to take the world down with them.

With the cast of characters as depicted, it's easy to see how our elections have cast a shadow of dread around the world. They really must be wondering how the hell can the USA end up with the choices it has for the most powerful, most influential, most threatening position it has to offer.

The rippling effect our controversial elections are having around the world must be fairly unsettling, as the freight train with the stars-n-stripes branding on it is about to be taking a hair pin turn going full speed ahead.

Persia. Rome. France. Germany.

Same shit, different Empire.

What is always interesting to me is whether the change required to prevent catastrophe comes from within or without. Because of the overwhelming military strength of the US Empire, it will have to come from within.

So, do the American people have enough of an attention span and an infrastructure to take care of its problem, or will misinformation and apathy bring ruin?

Stay tuned!

I don't think so. When it's all said & done we'll likely elect Hillary & attempt to expand on the progress we've made in reversing the economic effects of top down class warfare. We took a steel toed boot to the nuts in 2008 & likely would have been stomped into a puddle if not for the bailout & the FRB. Yes, it's looting followed by extortion. The only alternative was more looting.

In essence, I'm compelled to agree with you. My semi-rant was more in reference to what's going on with the Repubs, with the Dems being of lesser concern.

I do feel though that if Hillary wins, she's going to have to pay heed to Sander's message and the considerable amount of Dem voters that support his platform. If she doesn't make an effort to effectively and sincerely address those concerns raised by Sanders and his campaign, I'm not at all confident that Hillary can survive a run for a second term, with the thought in mind that the Repubs will have somewhat recovered from this awful awful mess they've created for themselves and will be set to put up a legitimate contender in 2020.

I think republican establishments are backing Cruz knowing he is the failure candidate. I wonder if they are looking at a 4-6 year plan for an establishment resurgence and conceding to 4 years of hilary, hoping that Hilary will be insanely unpopular for those 4 years making it simple to run as a republican.

That strategy worked great with Obama. GOP isn't known for learning from their mistakes though so all aboard the fail boat once again.

When it comes to Ted Cruz, I can only think of one song.

Bridge of Death by Manowar.

"Dark Lord, I summon thee demanding the
Sacred right to burn in hell, ride up on hells
hot wind. Face one more evil than thou, take
My lustful soul,
Drink my blood as I drink yours, impale me on
the horns of death
Cut off my head release all my evil Lucifer is king
Praise Satan"

Politics has direction & limiting factors. Bernie & Hillary are headed in the same direction. Repubs will limit progress, leaving both short of their goals. Dems get that.

On the other side of it, Repubs are directionless, dug in with failed trickle down ideology. They made that choice when they turned obstructionist after 2008 rather than making an ideological pivot. Their current strength arose from catching Dems flat footed in 2010 & enormous gerrymandering following the census. They had a plan. Dems didn't.

At the presidential level, they've arrived at the point where their ideology cannot successfully pretend to deliver to their base or the general population. Not even Trump the Redeemer can sell that. His pitch is still trickledown bullshit. His appeal is purely emotional.

At the State level, their governance is a shambles in places like Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan & Louisiana. Their social issues litmus tests internally limit advancement to the Brownbacks, Jindals & Walkers- politicians who have no answers for people less than well to do.

They can't run what they don't have. All I can see is a stable full of nags.
