hey yoyo, do you have much of a life? I'd hate to think of the time it took you to find all these threads. Either that or the database is finally indexed.

The search feature is working quite nicely. I have some regular down time here at work today due to running OCR text recognition on rather long documents. While I'm waiting for them to complete, I have a minute or two to spend looking for these amazing golden threads ;)

yoyo for elite!

Ok, I give up. My gf wants attention now that she's here ;)

I left out the dozens of threads you made about getting your computer up and running and most of the Vista install problems.

I don't understand how someone that needs this much help to solve basic problems can be hired for a position like this.

Does google have any sort of appeals process where we can provide additional information to them about applicants?

Total absolute 100% fucking pwn3ge, wow that's gotta hurt!

That's definitely a contender for pwn3ge of the year but CasioTech is currently in the running:

You realize that when you guys use the term 'ownage' and spend a half hour looking up previous posts from people you only prove what a bunch of pathetic douchebags you are. You just took that much time out of your day to dig up posts from this guy, or casio, or whomever. Do you morons actually believe that you can tell how intelligent a person is in real life based on a few words on an internet forum?

And then, almost to prove the point that half of you slack-jawed morons must've been habitually dropped head first onto marble flooring as infants, you assume that anything anyone on this forum does that even remotely approaches normal day to day living MUST be lies. It's like you all project your sad pathetic existences onto the people on this forum that actually do shit with their lives. "Wait, he got a job at Google, and he posts on this forum? I post on this forum too and haven't done shit with my life, and if he's doing something with his, then I have to face, even minutely, the fact that I'm a complete idiot. Better knock him down a peg and assume he's lying so I can save my own ego."

80% of you need to grow the fsck up.

OP: Congratulations on getting a job.

The guy has posted nearly 2000 times. That's not "a few words." That's a whole lot of material on which to judge a person's intelligence. I'm sorry that you are unable to do that, but please stop projecting your inadequacy on everyone else here.

OP: Congratulations on getting a job.

There are several glaring errors with your rebuttal:

1. You accuse anyone who states that pcslookout was "owned" as spending half an hour looking up old posts. While it is true that yoyo probably put in more time to this endeavor than most would deem necessary, it is nonetheless his time to use. The short "owned" responses that followed appear to have taken far less time to craft than your own reply, suggesting you have more time to waste on this topic than those you are railing against. Hypocrisy.

2. You explicitly state that you cannot tell what someone is actually like from posts on an internet forum, then appear to only apply this rule to pcslookout. All responses from yoyo and others could be extensions of this rule, thoughts, not of the humans at the computer, but of their online personas. To come on to an online forum with your own online persona and rally against this is at best ironic, and at worst, mind-numbingly stupid.

3. You take the OP at face value. You claim that anyone who makes a post indicating they have a life outside of this little world of ATOT must be telling the absolute truth and anyone who questions that truth must be overcome with jealousy (or jealousness, take your pick). But what if the OP is lying? His own online persona has posted a number of topics and replies that would make many question his intelligence, not just in the realm of computers, where he supposedly is now employed at one of the most powerful companies in the world, but in basic common sense areas as well. Nothing the OP has ever posted seems to indicate that he is a brilliant software engineer; why should any of us take what he claims at face value? If anything, this thread seems to show that he deliberately registered a second account to back himself up, something clearly against Anandtech's forum rules.

Your response to this thread seems over-the-top in defending someone who, for all intents and purposes, seems to be lying to everyone, whether by passing himself off as an idiot on the forums or as a software engineer in real life. But don't yell at people for trying to do their own investigative journalism. What they do with your own time really isn't your concern, is it? If you feel their time was wasted, why waste your own commenting? Or is that just your online persona?

Thanks yoyo, truly a classic bit of ownage, there.

My best friend works at google, he loves it.

Though I don't think you'll ever be working anywhere doing anything computer or technology related.

Accipiter22, the reason I knew about the majority of these threads is the amount of time I already spent going through a ton of these projector issues with him. I kept on helping him time and time again with these threads because I thought he had some sort of problem where he was unable to do all this stuff on his own or look up anything, etc.

I spent several hours of my time trying to be helpful to this guy and thought he had English as a second language or had some other sort of reason that was preventing him from basically being "normal".

I was just a bit annoyed to see that this same guy that I basically walked through numerous problems was accepted by google for a job.

Examples of the time I put into responses for him:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...034533&highlight_key=y

As for the amount of time it took, I just searched for his name and reading titles of his threads were all I needed to do since I knew he started so many on just a few limited subjects to have people help him over and over again.

Accipter22, perhaps you shouldn't talk. You're somebody whose posts anyone could look up to prove what a pathetic douchebag you are.

Hypocrisy.

The links that he posted took way longer than the 1 minute it took me to post (i read his later reply to me that said he had several he already knew of, but still). So your first point is invalid.

My point is that that someone comes on here and says something normal, and then all of you monkeys jump all over the guy, reacting to him. Normal people make normal posts about their normal lives...and then 80% of this forum jumps all over them calling Shens on anything that sounds even remotely plausible. You're right, I can't tell what those people are like, but they're blatantly acting like douchebags, whereas the OP was merely posting a normal part of his life.

So waht if he's lying? why do you care? The fact is probably 99% of the normal everyday things people post on here are probably true. Even if the % is lower, why do you all care so much? Nothing I've posted here indicates that I was a gifted biology student, or extremely gifted psychology student, but I was both. Why would you reject at face value anything someone says here? It's like most of the people on this forum are cynical jerks.

Also, in reply to Mugs: Having studied psychology for several years now I can tell you there has NEVER been a valid conclusive study showing that 'online' persona has any sort of tie to real life persona. You can read 10,000 of his posts (or all of mine for that matter) and still not have a valid idea of who he is as a person.

Is the op lying? Who knows, but my point is, why do you all jump all over him or anyone else that posts things about their lives? Why does it bother you so much?

and NOW I've spent way too much time replying :p

Actually you'd be surprised at the efficiency many have that don't ride your bus.

Some people are just way better at searching things.

based on the wording of the thread title, I am going to go out on a limb and guess you have either a highly technical job or a toilet scrubbing one.

Did you mean to say that Google offered you a job?
