His post is like those car advertisements that promise "No application will be refused!" ... no shit.

Hate hate hate...lol
You must really strike people as a dumbass. I don't know you, but congrats.

I see how they would question this, I myself ask retarded questions and don't pay attention most of the time. I never come across as a sharp person ever, but that's not important really. I don't think I need to apply myself when not important. For example, I never like to do the quick math, I'll just make an educated guess unless it's money.

Yes and that has happened.

oh. lemme go buy 2 more gigs of ram since apparently my machine isn't standard anymore.
4gbs of ram is completely unnecessary for everyday operation. Only power users would ever dream of needing that much, and its only useful is Vista which handles and accesses memory a lot better.

oh sorry, don't wanna rain on your parade ;)

I disagree. 4 GB is now the standard because DX10 is already out and the more DX10 games that come out the more you will see that 4 GB is a need for DX10 because it requires Vista.

I have a 733mgz 128MB machine and running XP.

Will I need another 4000MB?

No your on windows xp.

so how many PCs that come loaded with Vista today have 4 GB of RAM standard?

Ok I looked at your threads ...LOL I see where these guys are coming. I thought I don't strike as sharp, but you're just ... whatever it is .... not the type to get hired by Google. If you did, then what is it with you and you weird threads.

How the HELL did you get through their interview process?
I concur. I always thought that he was a major dumbass.

Please take no offense, pcslookout.

Of course, no offense intended. ;)

I'm just amazed that someone who:
1. Can't understand credit cards
2. Can't understand Netflix
3. Posts a thread with a title like "Google accepted me for a job offer!"

could possibly be "accepted for a job offer" at Google.

Really. I thought it was tough to get in there.

i get spam emails all the time saying google wants to hire me... and ive never applied!

i still get told by the manufacturers that 2gb is the standard for vista. i get told by friends that use vista that 4gb is what you want if you plan on doing anything with it. i have a laptop with a p3 and 128mb of ram, and while it will run XPPro, it doesnt run it well. if i hook it up to a domain, the network overhead takes up every last bit and gives it the digishits trying to access anything. so, while 128mb is sufficient, it is hardly usable in a real world app. 512 will get ya by tho, if all youre doing is email and data entry.

What I meant by that was, if you were to walk into say Best Buy today, how many of the PCs in there that are loaded with Vista have 4 GB of RAM? If 4GB is the standard, then they the majority of them should have 4 GB.

In my limited experience I think 2GB is about right.

I got my Dell notebook with Vista and had only 1GB. It worked well enough until I installed some applications on it - Office 2007 really killed it.

After installing 2GB things run smooth and just about as perfect as can be. For normal use, I think 4GB would be a bit of an overkill. If the money is available and the mobo and CPU can handle it, then guess no harm in 4GB but I don't think it is needed for the vast majority of people.

Food is twice as good once its marinated in a trash can. At least thats what op can keep telling himself when he's fishing nachos and a half empty coke out of the trash for lunch.
