DainBramaged, you already know what I think of Marines.

Stay safe and remember, a true warrior has impeccable manners

Tonight, a few ATOT'ers and I went out for a few drinks. To make a long story short, I go to this bar all the time where most of the people know me.

Steve (sm8000) busted out his bagpipes and played his music for about fifteen people that all knew me. People were crying and wishing me luck. sm8000 was playing Amazing Grace. I am not normally an emotional guy but at this point, I lost all control. I started crying. People started coming up and wishing me the best of luck in the Corps while sm8000 continued playing. At then end, he got a huge standing ovation.

Steve, I just want to say that regardless of what happens, dude, I love you, the people at North Main Tavern will not forget you. Dude, you made my night.

Thank you.

You're welcome, of course. Anything for a friend. Get in touch when you're back around Thanksgiving.

We had a good time bumming around different random bars in r(c)ockford, Steve's pipes were a touching finale to the evening. I wish you the best of luck Dain and I'll miss my evan williams partner lol

Here are some pics from Dain's last night and day as a civilian:

Dain & Platypus:

Throwin' up gang signs
Don't mess!

At the karaoke bar:

Theme from Growing Pains
Air guitar
Rockin' out!

The next day, Dain's family gathered at the river by his grandparents' place for some final goodbye pics, and I played my pipes again:

Playing the Marines' Hymn
Getting choked up
His siblings' first bagpipe encounter
Amazing Grace
With his grandmother
The river was so peaceful
Saying thanks and goodbye
The triumvirate of nef

:salute: Good luck. It's great to have friends like that. Remember those times and it'll get you through the hell you're about to face. He's probably already gone, but I wish him the best. And, again.

:salute:

The details are some that should be related in person, and only with his clearance ;)

Steve, that's awesome...how lucky you are to be able to play music and move people like that.

Dain, I wish you the best of luck. Can't wait to see the first pics of you in a uniform. ;)
