The Z is fugly as all hell

The Z is far better looking than any of those cars. For that matter, same with Altima and Maxima. Apparently you don't know what cars are supposed to look like. :p

are you saying the altima and maxima look good

please tell me you are joking

It's no joke, it's a fact. Perhaps you need new glasses?

If by sporty you mean, goes reasonably quick in a straight line then the Marauder wouldn't be a bad choice. If you like a fun car that actually handles well then that would be a bad choice.

Subaru WRX might be a good choice for you.

2nd altima and maxima are mid-life-crisis sedans. I dont think you can make anything more bland...

EDIT:
it will be his first car... he's 15 years old and prolly has no say over what his parents will buy him. Chances are one day his dad will show up with a cavalier/neon and it will be settled.

I really wouldnt waste time responding to this...

i think its you that need new glasses maxima is by far the ugliest out of that group

in terms of looks mazda 3 > scion tc > corolla XRS > impreza > altima > maxima

the impreza actually is kinda ugly and the corolla XRS is bland looking but not ugly

i would put the Z right around the scion tc

fugly just plain fugly
http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/new/reviews/photos/index.cfm/id/37410/img/04809111990005

buck tooth and the shape of the rear end makes rear look like a 2004 accord sedan's rear from the front which is hideous as well

altima would look nice if they changed the rear headlights so it does actually look good from the front and sides but

those cheesy tail lights are just horrible

Its your first car, so get something like an Accord EX Coupe. It will be very reliable, and its got enough power to be more than adequate.

Honda makes something much more bland... the majority of their lineup.
Hopefully you're right about his dad just showing up with a cavalier/neon... let him EARN something more than A->B transportation with a few frills.

How do you figure the Altima and Maxima as mid-life crisis cars? They are both sensible cars. Mid-life crisis is when you go out and do something irrational like buy a Porsche or a Harley. Not a freaking family sedan.

You win the dumbest post of the day award.

hrm, i cant wait for a price range! then i can read everybody yell at each other over which cars better, oh joy.

you think he'll ever come back and say anything?
Maybe he's waiting until his grades for summer school come in and his parents base the price range on that :)

well i was half right.... we didnt even need to wait for him to post a budget before people started fighting over what car is better!! haha, the internet is great

i mean, people are arguing for nothing now. i especially like the 'looks better than xxx' posts because well... we all know what people 'think' looks good is relative to them and really has no bearing on what 'car' he - his parents - should get him.

no... we all know hes getting a used civic.

Lol, he'd go crazy with sports car at that price. Keep in mind he's not willing to drive a manual

You could get a damn nice TT MKIV Supra, 90-91 NSX, etc.

I agree that that would be a good choice, but I still much prefer the Mazda6. The Accord Coupe just doesn't have the styling that a Mazda6 5-door has. Plus, Mazda is offering a nice cash-back incentive on the 6 right now.

Of course, a lot here will praise the reliability of the Accord, and they are definately correct and justified in that aspect. But do you really want to drive an Accord when you find SO many on the streets as it is? There are plenty of others on the market that will have great reliabilty as well. And to add to that, that generation of their coupes just doesn't look that appealing.

Personally, since we won't be picking a sports car like a used supra, I would go with a slightly used Volvo S60 Turbo AWD model

Do they sell an automatic version? He doesn't and won't drive a manual unless someone here can talk him into it and his parents, I've tried telling him but he just doesn't buy it

VW GTI or Jetta 1.8T. VR6 for either if you can still find one. Get the TDI if you want to save on fuel costs.

For his parents...Well, when you have an automatic transmission, you have to worry about the motor and the transmission...When you have a manual transmission, you basically only have to worry about the motor.

2 things vs. 1. Which one do you think will be more dependable? :)

As for him, tell him a manual transmission will give him more control and in general give him a better feel for what the car's doing. Also, tell him that only pre-pubescent girls think auto-trannies are cool ;)
