They even go the extra mile and give you the sound tracks as well as all the other little knick knacks like the manual, game guide etc etc. Great business model.

yea, I picked up a few games too. Great service with a small but rapidly growing fanbase. I hope they get lots of support and if successful publishers will see this is a neat place to sell their games. Love all the bonuses too! Soundtracks, wallpapers and they just added a Fallout Bible for those like me who bought the Fallout games!

Cool idea. They need more games though. Fallout 1 & 2 are the only ones that interest me and I already own them.

Fallout Tactics is well worth $6 if you like a good turn-based squad-level game with RPG elements. Sure it's not a purist's Fallout but it's still a lot of fun.

They're charging money for FS 1/2 - they're open source now.

shoot an email and ask em what's up?

I believe just the game's engine was made open source. The actual game content was not made open source.

From Wikipedia:

Despite Volition's interest and desire to develop add-ons and expansions for FreeSpace 2, Interplay told them to stop.[39] Volition was then acquired by THQ in 2000. As Interplay owns the rights to the FreeSpace series (as well as the Descent series) and Volition's owners, THQ, is only interested in pursuing development on what they own, Volition was unable to continue developing the FreeSpace franchise.[40] Faced with source codes which became practically useless to them, Volition released the source code for only the game engines to the public under a noncommercial license on 25 April, 2002.[41][42] Mike Kulas, the President of Volition, said this was to give those outside the game industry a chance to look at the code of a commercial software, a desire he and Matt Toschlog had when they were not yet in it. In the years since, no sequels to FreeSpace 2 were made and Interplay has only published a limited re-release of it on February 2, 2004 to commemorate the company's 20th anniversary.[8] Interplay went into financial troubles and was forced to close in 2005. It is currently in the process of discharging its debts, partly by selling off its licenses. No one has yet picked up the FreeSpace license. Derek Smart, creator of Battlecruiser 3000AD, had casually mentioned his interest in it, but nothing significant came out of this.[43][44]

Edit - I'm going to pick up Freespace 1+Expansion, FS2, Sacrifice, and Gothic 1 in a few days.

Looks great. They definitely need X-Com though. I'd love to see all the old Microprose and SSI games.

Considering they made the games playable on XP and Vista for the masses I think $6 is fair for some golden oldies. Its a chance for the younger gamers to try out some legend games they wouldnt normally get to try otherwise. No DRM hassles either. I just hope they can expand their catalog of games quickly. I also wish them a lot of success.

The Ultima series would be nice, though I think most of the people that care about it have already gotten it from 'other' sources.

Once they have more stuff it will be a great place. I already have Fallout and Fallout 2 and installed the fan made patches plus mods and they both work great in Vista64 already. They even have patches that give support to high resolutions. I wonder if they change the .exe in anyway that would work against the mods or fan made patches?

I would love them to get some of the Ultimas, and the old D&D games from SSI. Xwing and Tie fighter plus all the add-ons for those would also be great. Mechwarrior 2 for vista would be nice as well. I am sure I could think of many more lol

Redneck Rampage was THE SHIT! When it came out the graphics were freakin sweet. I loved how drinking too much made you drunk and fucked up all the controls, and eating too many bags of pork rines made you fat and move slower.

I'd love to see a new Redneck Rampage on the latest Unreal engine :D

The site looks great. Only problem is that they're taste in good old games is so close to mine, I already have the games I want.

Too bad I already have 95% of them.

I mean... geat! I can get the 5% I don't have.... eh? eh?

Nobody likes a smart ass. ;)

They do need to increase their line up though. There are a LOT of older games that they don't have on their list. In fact, they really only have a paltry handful of titles, good ones to be sure, but still only a handful.

I actually think this is a great idea. There are a ton of great older PC games that people may have missed. This gives people a chance to see what they have missed out on using a modernish system. All they need to do now is increase their library.
