Awesome! I have been wanting to reinstall Operation Flashpoint for years, but I haven't been able to find the CD anywhere. They have it for $10, so I should be good to go to get back into the game and maybe actually finish it this time.

I don't understand what you mean. What does "got excepted the Beta" mean? What does it have to so with the Good Old Games site?

My problem with the site is all the games are download only and you can get the same games for around the same price with all their physical items at many other places.

I wonder if their version of Shogo would work better than the copy I had and could only ever get to a certain point at which time the game would crash or hang (I forget which).

I'm thinking of trying out Freespace 2...any opinions on a good force feedback joystick that will work w/ Vista?

Technically, if you were "excepted" from the beta, then you weren't a part of it. Ergo, you would have to pay for the games :p

I had never heard of the site, but I bought Fallout on it, it's DL'ing now...

I like how you can download the manual, the soundtrack, wallpapers, etc... The fact that they put the extra effort makes the 5.99 for a 10yr old game more palpable. I've never played fallout, though, so I'm not doing it for nostalgia :)

They gave the beta testers a buy-get-one-free offer on Interplay games. Fallout 1+2 for $6? Yes please. Not sure why the hell you would expect the games to be free in the beta.

This is a wonderful concept. I'll definitely be looking at their lineup when I get home and make a purchase to support this effort. I'd love to play XWing and TIE Fighter again :)

If I never played Fallout 1&2 could I enjoy them now? You know what I mean by that question... I'm not a graphics maniac but considering I have no nostalgic value it may be difficult. Monkey Island on the other hand... I would pay $10 for those games. :)

Am I going to be missing much by jumping right in to Freespace 2 w/out playing the original? Very cool site- I'll be watching it for updates...already a bunch of games bringing back memories just from the screenshots...

You will miss a decent amount of back story and what's going on.

The website is beta. The games are full retail versions, with all patches installed. And by full retail, I mean the software, not the box or the useless little pamphlet that most games come with.

Yes, and be able to run the game with the awsome soundtrack. The game was designed to use CD audio, so if they could make it play from files rather than tracks that would be great. People would be missing out from a nice aspect of the game otherwise.

blah. I would love to pick up FS2, but I don't have a joystick anymore :(
and if I were to pick up a joystick, it would have to have force feedback, without it, FS2 just wouldn't feel right... literally =P

First time I played through that game, I had a MS Sidewinder FF (the original one), and the game integated FF so well that it's hard to imagine playing without it now.

I just want to say: Don't buy Freespace 1/2 from them. Not because I want them to fail or anything, but because you can actually download the full games with graphical enhancements through the open source community. I can't remember how they restored Freespace 2 (I believe everything but the voices and music became public domain, but everything's in there), but they're working on porting FS1 to the FS2 engine with enhancements. I played through FS2 again and it really is incredible what they've done with the old engine - they've put in high-res textures, glow effects for engines, etc.
