No idea. It's possible it's not out for non-steam copies, since they seem to require different executables.

There are no non-steam versions. FNV is a Steamworks game.

Anyway, the patch downloaded for me but now the game refuses to start... I had ZERO problems before the patch (okay, the game crashed once in 50 hours)... I click play on the launcher, the mouse turns into a wheel for a second, the process shows up in task manager and disappears after a second. Tried to disable all my mods... didn't help at all. Tried verifying local files a few times, no dice.

There was absolutely nothing I changed apart from the patch... "great" D:

The only bug I have with the new patch that I didn't had before it is when I crouch and reload the cowby repeater (only) it bugs the zoom (right mouse button)...only on this weapon and it's weird since in the patchnote it's stated:

Fix: Controls temporarily disabled after reloading Cowboy Repeater while crouched

Fix a bug and create another...

Ever since I installed the ATI D3D9.dll the game's been running really well on my 5850. So I'm loathe to install any patches which might mess it up again.

I have the d3d9 installed and after steam updated with the latest patch I haven't noticed any problems, everything is running great so far.

Use this new version of FOMM:

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901

Make sure to list all ESM's first on the list (with the FONV ESM at the very top.)

Mine wouldn't start either with the new update... But it is always good to keep a vanilla copy of the game, in case you need to start over to figure out which mod is fucking things up.

Cheers.

You can ditch the d3d9.dll now with the latest patch, theyve also fixed the unconscious radscorpion thing with a hotfix.

My game was crashing because of the Archive Invalidation Invalidated thing. There's a workaround I found (change the name of the .bsa file to the one you pasted into fallout_default.ini). Game's working great again! And I also dropped the hacked d3d9.dll file. Game's running smooth, no crashes or hangs :) Apart from the launcher crashing sometimes - but it's been like that since day one and all I have to do is try it a few times and it will eventually not crash and allow me to click on Play.

I got FOMM though, excellent program for governing your mods, especially the texture ones packed into a .fomod! Cheers!

Now I'm getting excellent performance again and the game looks great - 1920x1080, SSAAx4, Ultra. Fellout NV made the game look better IMO. I tried Nevada Skies but the colors are very very weird in it, so I am sticking to Fellout. The sandstorms were excellent though!

Fellout is great during the day, but they overdid the darkness of night given how useless the pip-boy light is.

Knock on wood, I've been relatively crash-free. In fact, my only crashes occurred early on in the Goodspring schoolhouse. VATs would freeze, opening items would freeze, etc. I left and came back and everything was fine.

That's why I also got a mod to improve Power Armors. Helmets have night vision toggle instead of the pip-boy light. Fits very well into the game imo (Power Armors are very high-tech).

The game was running suspect before patch, but the new patch made everything a lot more stable for me.

I do use mods as well, and have had zero crashes with it. I did the old school method of using a .txt rather than the .bsa so maybe that's why I haven't encountered any issues.

Keep in mind they patched a lot of PERFORMANCE related stuff, but didn't really fix broken things - such as certain quests. Also note Veronica is still jacked up (won't level) so you still have to use a mod to get her proper.

Link to the mod please? Is it for NV or FO3? I'd like it for FO3.

Again, I'm hoping to wait until NV is (relatively) bug-free before buying it. Think the game will be cheaper then?

You're lucky considering right now we're about to enter the holiday season. I think you may be able to get NV for PC probably for $39.99 in some type of sale. (Maybe, just maybe even $34.99)

Keep in mind that Fallout is a very popular franchise, and Fallout 3 was selling very well at it's MSRP of $49.99 for quite some time after it was released. So I would say you should jump on any deal that sells it $39.99 or less - or expect to wait quite a while before the price drops.

I might wait until the DLCs for NV are out (there are DLCs planned right?) since I need to finish the entirety of Fallout 3 and all of its DLCs first. I finally have a rig that can handle FO3.

Why would it be? The game requires Steam and it automatically updates on Steam. There's only one reason it would need to be hosted somewhere else. Good job.
They should put the patch on their website labeled "for non-steam versions", then make a list of the IPs that download it for further investigation.

Interesting that you guys are having less crashes since last Patch. Now I can't Play for 10 minutes before it Crashes. :$

Ed-E no longer does anything except place itself between an Enemy and me, the BoS Chick shows up once in awhile during a Firefight, then afterwards walks backwards until she runs into some object, although she's still walking backwards.

I regret buying this game so early, should have waited another Month or so.

Did you read what the guys stated above about very buggy mods with the new patch?

Anyhow, I finished Boone's mission and sent him back to wherever he came from. I'd say I'm only about 40% done the game so it's time for me to start earning my own headshots. I noticed that without Boone I manage to sneak up on enemies better, he never came across as the loud, clumsy type so maybe it was just the fact that he'd always fire first.

Oddly enough, I'm going to enjoy exploring instead of _chasing after him_. Even when I told him to be passive, he would kill everything in a 3 mile radius. It kind of made sense, given his personality though.

Since I'm getting rid of Boone, I'm looking to work with ED-E
and upgrade his armor so that he can hopefully take a lot more damage out on the field
. I'd like to get Veronica also, but I'm weary about having to install a mod just to get her to function properly. Are there any other very passive support characters like ED-E? I'd love to have another person who just mules gear and hides in the corner when the shooting starts.
