Man Boone is a fucking monster, I might have to drop him just because he is too strong. It's cool that he is a useful companion, but he's like 6x stronger than me in every way and it's just weird. I have trouble killing things and he 1 shots them from 900 yards away when their head pops over a hill or something. Also I gave him a rebar so whenever things get close he pulls out this giant metal pole with concrete on the end and smashes them into pieces. It's sort of ridiculous.

Yeah, he's pretty ridiculous. With him and ED-E, I can basically just go exploring in dungeons while they kill everything within 100 yards of me.

He's almost essential on Very Hard - Hardcore mode. Reason being is he still counts as an NPC, and thus gets the damage bonuses associated with that. Give him a sniper rifle or load him up with the Anti-Material rifle and you've got one hell of a bodyguard.

As a side note, I'm a giant perv and can't stand male companions of any kind so even though he kicks ass, I still always travel with either Cass or Veronica.

Haha, I'm the same way. I always have to use the ladies.

"Hey baby, you're looking slightly less irradiated today." :awe:

So drop him and get a shitty companion like Raul. For the record I haven't found Boone THAT overpowered.

Boone is overpowered. I don't like him. It kinda feels weird having people tell you "you're the only one capable" when it is actually Boone doing multiple critical headshots on Reavers I can't even see, while I'm still trying to hit the first one.

So I ditched his ass and took Veronica.

Yeah Boone is a little OP and I'm thinking about replacing him soon. I found Cass and thought she would be an enjoyable company with me and Rex (which I f'ed up since I gave him the speed brain bonus...what a waste)...

Didn't met Veronica yet though...

Where do you find Rex? I might drop Boone.

Rex is with the Kings in Freeside.

So far I've found my best luck with Raul and Rex. Raul because he gives the perk where your weapons and armor degrade at a 50% slower rate. Very helpful.

She's a melee character so it actually gives me a chance to take some shots before she gets involved. Her perk sucks though, but oh well. She is hilarious.

Thats actually a huge problem with damn near any video game, but especially RPG's.

Yeah I agree, but Boone takes it to the extreme. That guy just cleans shit up like nothing. Sometimes I'd hear a shot and turn around and the next thing I know he's wiped out three or four ghouls before I can even hit one. I've got like 30% chance to hit the torso and he's doing headshots for fun. I'm surprised he doesn't wear a cape and eat Deathclaw hearts for his breakfast. He's the Chuck Norris of the Fallout world :p

On the flip side when I do another play through but with Hardcore mode turned on, he's definitely going to be in my party.

Yeah for this first playthrough on hardcore mode I got him with me and gonna get ED-E since they go very well together.

Next playthrough, normal mode on hard or very hard, no Boone...maybe lonesome cowboy style!

I'm assuming you mean Very Hard. I'm fairly certain that Hardcore mode has nothing to do with difficulty level. Hardcore mode just makes you have to eat, drink, sleep, and makes stims heal gradually over time, stims can't fix injured limbs (you need to visit a doc or use a doctor's bag), stuff like that.

I went hardcore because I think it adds some realism and immersion to the game.

I used Veronica for about 15 minutes before I realized she sucks ass. On hardcore mode, your companions die for good, so when I realized she's not a very good tank, I went back with Boone (& ED-E).

Believe me when I say, even on hardcore more it's not 'hardcore' with Boone on your team. The only thing on your checklist is "is there cov- nevermind they are all dead". Ok the real question is how are we going to carry all this shit boone?!

I once saw Boone hit a guys head clean off his shoulders and over a house. True story.

Boone doesn't get irradiated, radiation gets Booned.

NPCs have started greeting me as Boone's sidekick.

In all seriousness though, something to keep in mind is that you don't get the good karma unless you deliver the kill shots, and if boone is mopping them all up, your karma can actually drop out if you steal regularly.

Yeah couldn't agree more - a shame too since her comments are funny. Cass has that whole EMO bitch thing going for her that grinds on you after a while.

Still rather have a Deathclaw gang-bang than use male companions.

Yeah, she's not great in combat but I don't care. I don't really want my companions to be badass like Boone. That dude just steals all your glory and makes you feel like a side kick. I just stole some power armor and a super sledge and gave it to her. She does the job.

Meanwhile i'm still in my starting armor (modified leather armor from the Caravan Pack dlc)

I'm not playing hardcore this time around. That's my next game when I play an evil character.

I'm about to ditch Boone too. I have a big bag of guns that I want to use and this douche just comes in critting headshots left and right. I wanna ditch ED-E too because NPC's keep randomly aggroing him, but I need someone to carry my shit.

What about the doctor companion. Can't remember his name. Or the mutant.
(I got 30 tonight and will probably stick with Boone.)

I'm not a huge fan of Boone. It's not a lot of fun to play when he kills everything in sight before I get more than a couple of shots off.

I love the humor and voice acting in the game.

I haven't played in the past few days. I think I'm at the point where I'm tired of wandering around and doing random fetch/kill missions. I'm just going to finish the game.

The voice acting is what I dislike the most. There's like 4 actors for the entire cast. Just feels cheap and lazy. But that is typical for a bethesda game I suppose.

I didn't find I noticed that until I was about 30 hours in, but once I did it got pretty obvious. At least the acting was ok, except for Neil, he was terrible.
