(see end of this post for update, plus some other members have told some really freaky tales!)
Ah, it is almost that time of year again... and I have some pretty good ghost stories to tell! I'd like to hear yours, too. If you like this one and want more, I'll add to the thread later this weekend.
When I was 15 years old, I had a friend who lived with her 2 older sisters. The oldest was a redhead in her mid-twenties, and the middle sister was an older blonde teen. My friend was much wilder than I was, and one night she invited me to spend the night.
Of course, I jumped at the chance, because she had parties all the time!
When I got there, she was alone in the apartment. No adults anywhere! She said she needed to go to a neighbor's because he would buy us beer, but at that point I chickened out and elected to wait for her in the apartment. After all, I knew better than to go to in strange men's homes.
As soon as she left, I felt an odd sensation... sort of like the room was getting smaller. Then, I noticed the shadow of a man approaching me from the hallway. He was tall, with dark hair, and thick glasses.
Panicked and more than a little freaked out, I lunged for the front door. I wasn't too keen about staying there by myself anymore. However, I could not get the door to open.
I found myself moving toward an old, worn easy chair in the living room. In a daze, I sat down and started lecturing to myself.
<< The role a parent plays in a childs life is to guide and teach them >>
.... I can remember saying.
The next thing I knew, my friend had returned and she was yelling at me.
<< What are you talking about?? >>
she hollered.
I had no idea. I told her what I had seen, and she started shaking. She took me to her room and pulled out a box of old pictures. In it was a picture of a dark haired, bespectacled man next to a lovely blonde woman. It was her father, who had died of a heart attack one year after her mother died of cancer. 🙁
True Story.
Okay, here is my other story... but it isn't really as good.
I was really visually handicapped as a kid... I couldn't walk very well 'cause I couldn't see straight, so I didn't go to Kindergarten. I stayed with my beautiful, wonderful great aunt, who just passed away recently. 🙁 She would take me everywhere she went... she did a lot of volunteer work in the community, visiting nursing homes etc. She was the kind who would go to the graveyard and make sure her parent's grave was well tended, so I would hang out there with her.
Anyway, it was during this time that I started feeling like my great grandmother was hanging out with me sometimes... like a guardian angel, watching over me. She sort of kept me from doing things I shouldn't do... I was a mischevious little kid, so this was a good thing. I've felt her presence on and off during my lifetime... this post would be too long if I told you all the stories. I'll just tell you about the last time she made her presence known. Some will wonder how I know it was my great grandmother... well, I just know. If anyone could come back and watch over her family, it would be her. 🙂
My father was supposed to inherit a family home, but at the last minute his mean uncle changed the will and left it to my great-aunt' children. Anyway, my beloved great aunt wanted me to be able to get my grandmother's things from the house, where both women had lived and died. My great aunt thought she had the keys to the house, but the locks had already been changed by her son, who didn't want us going in the house.
She tried to open the door, and then I tried... There was just no way it was going to open with that key. I felt so bad for her... I could tell she was confused and hurt.
Just as I was ready to leave, the door fell open. Just freaking fell open. I knew right away that it was my great grandmother, there because she wasn't too happy about her children's feuding and because she wanted me to get what I wanted of hers and my grandmother's. At first I didn't want to go in, I was so freaked! However, I knew that I had to go in because she wanted me to. It was an interesting experience. I wasn't scared really, and nothing else out of the ordinary happened, but I was a bit unnerved.
Anyway, hope you have fun with this thread.
