~Ghost~Stories~ (updated)

(see end of this post for update, plus some other members have told some really freaky tales!)

Ah, it is almost that time of year again... and I have some pretty good ghost stories to tell! I'd like to hear yours, too. If you like this one and want more, I'll add to the thread later this weekend.

When I was 15 years old, I had a friend who lived with her 2 older sisters. The oldest was a redhead in her mid-twenties, and the middle sister was an older blonde teen. My friend was much wilder than I was, and one night she invited me to spend the night.

Of course, I jumped at the chance, because she had parties all the time!

When I got there, she was alone in the apartment. No adults anywhere! She said she needed to go to a neighbor's because he would buy us beer, but at that point I chickened out and elected to wait for her in the apartment. After all, I knew better than to go to in strange men's homes.

As soon as she left, I felt an odd sensation... sort of like the room was getting smaller. Then, I noticed the shadow of a man approaching me from the hallway. He was tall, with dark hair, and thick glasses.

Panicked and more than a little freaked out, I lunged for the front door. I wasn't too keen about staying there by myself anymore. However, I could not get the door to open.

I found myself moving toward an old, worn easy chair in the living room. In a daze, I sat down and started lecturing to myself.

<< The role a parent plays in a childs life is to guide and teach them >>

.... I can remember saying.

The next thing I knew, my friend had returned and she was yelling at me.

<< What are you talking about?? >>

she hollered.

I had no idea. I told her what I had seen, and she started shaking. She took me to her room and pulled out a box of old pictures. In it was a picture of a dark haired, bespectacled man next to a lovely blonde woman. It was her father, who had died of a heart attack one year after her mother died of cancer. 🙁

True Story.

Okay, here is my other story... but it isn't really as good.

I was really visually handicapped as a kid... I couldn't walk very well 'cause I couldn't see straight, so I didn't go to Kindergarten. I stayed with my beautiful, wonderful great aunt, who just passed away recently. 🙁 She would take me everywhere she went... she did a lot of volunteer work in the community, visiting nursing homes etc. She was the kind who would go to the graveyard and make sure her parent's grave was well tended, so I would hang out there with her.

Anyway, it was during this time that I started feeling like my great grandmother was hanging out with me sometimes... like a guardian angel, watching over me. She sort of kept me from doing things I shouldn't do... I was a mischevious little kid, so this was a good thing. I've felt her presence on and off during my lifetime... this post would be too long if I told you all the stories. I'll just tell you about the last time she made her presence known. Some will wonder how I know it was my great grandmother... well, I just know. If anyone could come back and watch over her family, it would be her. 🙂

My father was supposed to inherit a family home, but at the last minute his mean uncle changed the will and left it to my great-aunt' children. Anyway, my beloved great aunt wanted me to be able to get my grandmother's things from the house, where both women had lived and died. My great aunt thought she had the keys to the house, but the locks had already been changed by her son, who didn't want us going in the house.

She tried to open the door, and then I tried... There was just no way it was going to open with that key. I felt so bad for her... I could tell she was confused and hurt.

Just as I was ready to leave, the door fell open. Just freaking fell open. I knew right away that it was my great grandmother, there because she wasn't too happy about her children's feuding and because she wanted me to get what I wanted of hers and my grandmother's. At first I didn't want to go in, I was so freaked! However, I knew that I had to go in because she wanted me to. It was an interesting experience. I wasn't scared really, and nothing else out of the ordinary happened, but I was a bit unnerved.

Anyway, hope you have fun with this thread.

Yup. I heard that this one girl, who was a real troublemaker, was slammed against a wall by an unseen force during a party there. I wasn't there, but I knew who the girl was and she was an evil little wench, devil worshipping and stuff.

Heh, if you guys like that I'll post a couple more during the next few weeks. Stuff like that has happened on and off all of my life. If I hear a place is haunted, I avoid it.

Well, I must admit I did dabble with a ouegie ?really don?t know how to spell that word!!? board once...it honestly did spell things out, but it's so hard to trust those with whom you are participating. This was with my sister and my cousin, who both swear they were in no way affecting the words...but I'm not so sure 😉 There must be some kind of explanation for the whole thing! Scientific no doubt 🙂

LOL, you can imagine what it did to me! 😕

After that, I was not so keen to go to parties at her house again.

Poor thing. 🙁

I have one more that I will post a little later this evening.

Just remember, I am not the kind of person who seeks this stuff out, nor am I able to explain it. In fact, I try to think scientifically, so these events have really forced me to wonder both about my sanity and the nature of energy. I've decided that I'm reasonably sane, and what I have experienced is just the occasional anomaly.

It could happen to you, too!

Boo!😉

Halloween night, Coast to Coast has their Ghost to Ghost night, Isla, on the radio. You can probably also listen to past years on real audio. The audience calls in and tells their stories. It's 5 hr. of freak out. I have a ghost on my computer, but it's just a drive immage, nothing too scarry.

Cool. 🙂 Moonbeam and kb0ogt... We are coming out of the woodwork now!

Glad to know I am not the only weirdo around here.

😉

BTW thebestMax, flying saucer stories count, too! 😀

OK, ISLA, You made me tell this.

My house in KC, MO was built on an old Indian campsite and possibly burial ground. Setting in my office at my desk, I used to see out of the corner of my eye this Indian brave walk up and down my hallway. Always knew when he was about because the cat would get all flakey like they do. A few months after I moved in I said outloud to him that he was welcome and I wouldnt bother him if he didnt bother me. Seemed to work out but hard to watch some horror movies on the TV after that as my back was to the hallway.

thebestMax , Yikes!

Well, not only do I admire the way you handled that unnerving situation, I am very impressed that you had the courage to post that for us. I am also glad to know that there are others who have experienced these anomalies.

It takes a brave man to admit that there are some things we can't explain.

😉

I knew someone who's brother saw ghosts, or something like that. One time he and a friend were playing out in the snow, when he saw what was described as an orange glow over the friends house. The brother ran home and told his mother that the friend's mother was dead. The mother scolded him, and told him not to say such things. It turned out he was right.

In another case, he was visited in the middle of the night by an uncle. He didn't know it at the time, but he had died that night. The next morning, he asked his parents where the uncle was, and they didn't know what he was talking about. Then they got the phone call saying that he had died.

There are a few other stories, I'll post them if I remember some.

Hahahah, what a load of BS!!!!!!!!

(Kidding!)
Seriously, interesting stuff Isla, what were you feeling when you 'lectured' yourself? That seems really weird - almost like a temporary posession...

Thebestmax, did you live in this house alone? I woulda been too freaked out to live there after seeing that! 😱

Genocide,

No, I wasnt alone, there were the 3 of us, me, the cat and the Indian.

Sorry, couldnt help myself. 😀

Actually - I have a small story to tell (this is all true, only happened like 2 years ago):

A friend and I used to walk to school every morning (about a 30 min walk), and one Friday (we referred to it as the "weird Friday" from that day on). Well, we were walking, and my friend, out of nowhere, says "look up there, what the hell is that?", so I look up as he pointed to the sky, and we saw this black 'rabbit head' shaped blur in the sky. It was black, and didn't really have a definite form, and it was just floating there! Keep in mind this is in a well populated area, not near a crop circle in the South or something. It was way up there too, so I couldn't see it very well, but it stayed in the very same place for the few minutes we looked at it. Well, it was a semi-cloudy day out and the clouds soon covered it up, so we kept walking. We go through the very next intersection, and *wham* an egg lands right between us. I immediately turn around and there's only 2 cars around, and none of them were in the right position (considering the angle of the egg splat)! This was a wide open area too, the intersection is surrounded by fields on 3 sides, no trees/bushes or anything! And there was NO ONE around!!! It was freaky as hell! But we kept walking... That egg splat stayed on the sidewalk for about 8 months before it finally faded away, which it did so almost in the course of one day. And that was over the course of a winter (constant snow/slush coverage, and it was still there). A bunch of weird stuff happened that day in school, just the way everyone acted and the stuff that was going on, and I don't say this just because of what happened to us earlier, there was some strange behavior going on...

Well, not really a ghost story - but kinda freaky nontheless...
Kinda flips me out thinking about it now - Overall it was a VERY crackheaded day, that's the only way to describe it (and NO I wasn't under the influence of any drugs at the time 😉)

im interested in the oujia board stories myself.

one of my moms best friends is a "closet psychic" not the type that you would think, and she never asked for it, just somthing she says she can 'tap' into. when you can get her to talk about some of the stuff she has seen/done/felt its really amazing.(she doesnt like being able to see what she sees).

she always knows when my mom phones and no they dont subcribe to caller ID
small things like that.

pretty interesting stuff

My great grandmother read tea leaves during the war as well.

im personally a skeptic in most things.

I did once see a UFO, or so i thought, till i squinted and saw it said DELTA AIRLINES along the side

😛

My best friend would always tell me that her house is haunted. She'd tell me about this person she sees walking around upstairs, or curtains move when there is no draft. Not sure what to make of this story, but it makes sleeping at my friend's house more interesting 😉

Then they say that the theater here where I work is haunted. Apparently somebody donated a woman's things a looong time ago, and now she haunts the theater. Mostly it is things moved from one place to another without any human having been there, things like that.

None personally, but someone I know (whose name I won't reveal) has had some.

She & her sister used to experiment with ouija boards (or however it's spelled) before she was saved. Things got too freaky for them, & they quit. Then things got nasty. One particular demon they had contacted repeatedly harassed them, including grabbing the wheel of their car & trying to put them in the ditch, & dropping bottles off of kitchen shelves. Bottles that had been behind other bottles, leaving empty spaces at the back of the shelves.

Freaky sh!t, but it goes to show... Ouija boards are NOT toys.

Ouija boars are toys.... I'm sorry, I have a hard time seeing anything from Hasbro that I can buy at the local walmart for $15 as anything other than a toy. Oh, and for those that are curious, the name is a combination of the word "Yes" in French and Dutch, "Oui" and "Ja".

I love a good ghost story though, keep'em coming 🙂
