I got another story, that was told to me by my best friend. My friend is an avionics engineer, currently for the US National Guard, but previously for the U.S. Air Force. When he was with the Air Force based in NJ, they had a C-141 attached to his unit that everyone called the "ghost plane". The C-141 fleet is about 40 years old. Anyhow, some years back a crewchief was killed in an accident. Apparently, he was working on the plane up in the T-tail, which is at the back of the plane, where the rudder would be. No one knew he was there, and a flight crew boarded the plane and took off. After takeoff, the pilot was having trouble steering, so he turned back and landed. When they landed and checked the mechanisms, they found what was left of this guy in the T-tail. He was crushed to death.
After that incident, many strange incidents were reported by people who had to work on/near that plane. One night, my friend was working on that plane at a base in Florida during a training excercise. He looked up from what he was working on and saw his father standing there. His father just smiled at him and disappeared. After placing a call home, he found out that his father had just passed away. He thinks that his father just wanted to check in on him one last time.
My friend used to work the graveyard shift. He says that numerous times, he would be working in the cockpit alone and hear someone walking inside the plane from the tailsection towards the cockpit. But when he'd look, no one was there. He'd check the hangar and it would be empty except for him, as it was most of the time he was working. Once he'd go back to whatever he was doing, it would start all over again. Again, no one was in sight when he would check. He said that after a while, he started ignoring it. Others reported similar incidents. The sound of footsteps would often be accompanied by the metallic sounds of tools bouncing around in the pouch on a toolbelt. Most believe that the ghost of the dead crewchief haunts the plane. I got to see this plane one time when my friend took me over for a tour of the facilities at the base. It was during the day, otherwise I wouldn't have gone near the thing after hearing the stories.
My friend told me a pretty funny story about an incident on the "ghost plane" involving his crewchief, who was a very large guy who they called Big F*&%ing Al. It seems that Al was trying to catch a few winks in the cockput after his shift which ended at 11PM. Well, apparently the ghost was restless decided to make alot of noise, and it kept waking Al up so he yelled "SHUT THE F*&% UP!" Apparently, the joke is that everyone is afraid of Al, including the ghost. Because, the ghost didn't make another sound all night.
UPDATE:
I have more details about the ghost plane. My buddy also told me that the ghost is also a bit of a prankster. Sometimes if a guy was working on something, and would put his tools down, the ghost would take them and carry them to the opposite end of the plane.
