Getting rid of HUGE quantities of pure sodium metal

at my high school a kid tried to steal some sodium from the chemistry lab, but the teacher suspected him of doing so and when called into the teachers office the student tried to dispose of the sodium by flushing down the toilet. Needless to say the toilet subsequently exploded and the student got into considerable trouble.
 
that's a helluva lot of NaOH. one helluva basic lake at that point too. lol (at least that area was, no clue how much the ended up dumping or the depth/size of that lake)
