Backstory: I applied to work at a kinkos in December. Did 2 interviews, and was told I'd be called back. A week later I wasn't called back and when I called the guy interviewed me was unavailable all the times I called. My inside source said they were hiring someone else, but he had to pass a drug test and background check. This was in February, I have since taken a job at my school making a little less money. I was called hy the new manager asking me to come in for an interview, and to negotiate my employment. My school schedule isn't good for them, but w/e.
Question: the job is for 9.50 and hour. I make 8 right now. If they decide they want to hire me should I ask for a signing bonus since they took 4 months to get back to me? The position is not some chump front desk job, I'd have to be making fliers, business cards, and banners in Photoshop, so it's a sort of a skilled position but a nutless monkey could still do it. I also get some comission, like half percent if the total.
Would I be better off asking for more hourly money or a signing bonus? I know it's lame bur it's a dixk move on their part, I was way more qualified than anyone else and even went through the trouble of printing my portfolio.
Cliffs: I applied for a job 4 months ago, I'll be getting it in the next week, but will have to leave my current. Should I ask for more money for compensation?
