As someone who initially thought Zimmerman was guilty, I must say the facts tell a different story.

From what I read and have seen on youtube videos, the witness testimony helped the defense more than it helped the prosecution.

That lady who signed a note she could not even read, if she can not read what she signed, what will she do? What other false statements is she willing to make?

The lady trying to diminish zimmermans head injuries told me the prosecution was grasping at straws. It is not how bad the injury is, but how the victim perceives the injury. If zimmerman was being beat down, and "thought" his life was in danger, he could use lethal force to defend himself.

Nope, they never had a case which is why one was not originally going to be brought. Those who were severely misled in the run up to and during the trial should look more cautiously at the sources of information they use in the future.

I'm on the fence. If I convicted on anything it would be manslaughter. After watching cops brutalizing people during arrests on youtube, I wonder what would happen if a victim of cop brutality pulled a gun and shot the cop giving them the beatdown because they "feared for their life".

The prosecution didn't even bring up any evidence to discount self-sefense.
In fact a prosecution witness stated Martin was on top of Zimmerman.

This is why cops disarm and check for weapons first. No victim of brutality is going to be given that choice. ;)

I am still trying to figure out why the judge didn't allow for the case to be dismissed when the defense asked for it. There is nothing the defense can do to prove the state's case for them.

I was undecided before the trial, but the prosecution did a good job of changing that with their weak Facts and shady Witnesses. To me it looks like he [Zimmerman] was defending himself from Martin and shot him after he got ontop of him. The only odd thing is that Z chose to follow Martin, however its not a crime to do that luckily..

Clearly Zimmerman did not kill Trayvon in the fashion that the Media and the race baiters [Al sharpton etc] have painted it as, as though Z shot Martin solely for being black...So a second degree murder charge is a non factor. The prosection has failed their case big time since they hinged all of their bets on second degree murder. I bet Z goes home and then we get to enjoy the riots. Remember to thank Al Sharpton for instigating them if riots do occur!

The Sanford police blew any chances they had from the very beginning. Poor police work from the initial questioning by a drug officer instead of a homicide detective on down to the evidence gathering. The whole force needs to be replaced with competent workers.

That's the spirit. When you can't except the truth and you have to assign blame no matter what.

Is the verdict due soon? Everyone here is talking like this trial is all but over.

Due to the prosecution resting without new evidence.

Defense is calling witnesses now, god only knows how long that'll go on.

What the evidence supports is that Zimmerman followed Martin for some time. A fight broke out. At one point, Martin was on top of Zimmerman and Zimmerman likely pulled the trigger to protect himself. What we do not know is who started the fight. Zimmerman's self-defense right is limited by statute if he initiated the fight.

However, clearly there is way more than reasonable doubt here. I'd be very surprised if there is a conviction.

There should be a parody thread with highlights from ridiculous statements from the pro Trayvon crowd all in one original post quoted individually, along with youtube highlights of the same type of thing.

There are some dumb fucking people in this world that harped on this shit for months, including at my work. When this verdict is in I'll be 3 and 3 and 400 dollars richer.

If it is anything other than not guilty our entire country should be ashamed of itself. It should have never even went to court in the first place.

Judging by the lack of Zimmerman headlines on CNN (Certainly Not News), they must think he's going to be found innocent.

A very, very weak case. I feel for the prosecutor, being politically pressured to take it to trial knowing how weak it was from the outset.

I hear the State Attorney General refused to prosecute. The Governor had to find / appoint / use a special prosecutor.

OP: prove it's case? The prosecution didn't have a case. They did a fine job trying to con the jury into convicting an innocent man based on emotional appeal, but no, they didn't prove their case because they didn't have one.
