Make sure you wear skin suit and helmet. It makes cleanup much easier for the road crew.

First official shot of Salty heading home with his new bike (and bags of mulch).

Hopefully his neighbor's wife can control herself watching all of that man candy rolling into the neighborhood.

Doesn't really inconvenience anyone much if he skips a helmet.... in fact it's a lot easier that way since the EMT's can clean up his remains with a hose!

Helmet makes the head easier to find. Specially if you get a vibrant coloured one.

You're drinking a beer? Real smart.

Got time to stop for that but not to buy a helmet?

Alcohol and no helmet on a bike in the rain. Honestly I've never worn a helmet once snowboarding despite clocking in at 60+MPH and dropping chutes and cliffs many times so I can't judge.

I did all that same kind of stuff on ski's and never ever wore a helmet either but I wouldn't dream of riding a motorcycle without one. (I also had a zero-alcohol policy on 2 wheels)

It seriously is exponentially more dangerous in terms of potentially getting dead. (although skiing/boarding with a helmet is a dang good idea too!)

It's true, there is no car to run you over on the slopes. My buddy lost his foot after a semitruck crossed 2 lanes of traffic trying to get to a missed exit. He slid under the truck and his foot got ground right off under his bike. But he was wearing a helmet and leathers and is pretty healthy otherwise 20 years later. He'd have been dead or a vegetable without the helmet instead of just missing a foot.

I have a dozen+ solidly gruesome (to varying degree's) stories of bad things that happened to people I know/knew on bikes dating back to high school.

All I can say is that it's AMAZING the amount of punishment the rest of your body can survive with your brain intact especially wearing full protective gear.

a few years as a dispatcher for the state highway patrol was enough to make my aunt insist that us kids never get motorcycles

Bets on what makes a bigger grease spot: the motorcycle riding or the fat saponification?

So ..... I hope things didn't really end badly. o_O

(not that I'd be all that surprised)
