It'll be 3x GTX Titans for me if all of the hype in this tread is to be believed. All I'll need after than is an octa core IB-E.

I only hope Titan doesn't end up being Titanic :p

One of the recent links here had it as coming from inside nvidia that it's 85% of a GTX 690, left me thinking that means it's likely more like 70% real world.

One good thing about hyping something hard is that if on launch day it turns out to be less than expected, the anticipation and wait given to those considering buying will still push them over the edge to buy once they see it available online :awe:

It's two rumours feeding into each other in this case, one of performance and the other of price. It needs 85% real world of a 690 to make the $900 price tag seem less ridiculous than it already is.

Maybe it's been overblown, or maybe that graph confuses me.

Guys like me who prefer single gpus over multi it will be a pretty solid upgrade. But for guys like you who already have 680 SLI/690 will need more reason to upgrade.A Titan in sli will probably be too powerful even for your resolution while choosing a single will make you loss performance.Looking at the price it really targets the top enthusiast crowd who already owns sli/cf so I am not entirely sure how this card will entice them.

If it performs close to my GTX 670 SLI setup I will pull the trigger, way less hassle with one card, plus I can finally overclock something that isn't my CPU...

Not to mention, I can toy with a physx card with that new empty PCI-e 16x slot

I really want a pair but I can't get my head around paying over $2000 for two video cards. That really extends my barometer on what I feel is reasonable for two high end cards, at least for me.

Maybe in 6 months I'll get them if the price goes down or there is a game I want to max out that I can't. Still will be tough not to buy them if they perform like rumoured. I'll probably just avoid using the internet that day :p

That's not a bad idea but you will probably loose absolute performance going Titan. But on the other hand less ms/power seems potent.I think it will really come down to individual's own taste as many consumers are pretty happy with their sli/cf setups.

I think overclocking will be the wild card for me. Reasonable software voltage control and good OC headroom, I could see myself selling my current setup for it if it's close to the reported 900$ cost.

Since Lightnings in SLI are a great deal faster than a 690, if over voltage doesn't happen I think i'll stick to what I have. I'll still want one though, I like new and shiny stuff.

The world is full of idiots with more money than sense.

Generally speaking that's probably true.

But idiotic or not, I will probably try to get my hands on a Titan. And yes, it IS because it's single performance close to that of dual.

For a long time I didn't really mind the microstutter on my current card, but after AMD fixed the issue in Skyrim I remembered how smooth things were with only one card. So I'm going single GPU this time. If it turns out the Titan has stuttering issues then I might reconsider. Time will tell.

So this is why NVidia locked down the voltages on the gtx 6xx series, they are scared those lightnings at 1400MHz will nearly match or come too close to their $900 overpriced GTX 580 successor. Either that or the 6xx series is weak and will die with a touch of voltage as had been rumored..

Time will tell whether it was just for the 600 series, which would indicate it was to protect them. Or, if it continues on, to maintain more model granularity. I believe it's the second, personally. They can create more models, and more price points simply by adjusting clock speeds and not have people be able to crank up lower models as far to catch the model above it's performance.
