Probably will.

The world is full of idiots with more money than sense.

This forum is full of em.

Nonsense, there are pleny of people who don't have much of either and will buy Titan :p

Anyways, unless something amazing happens with the price... I think the more interesting aspect of Titan is what comes after it in the months to follow.

Does that come easy to you? Insulting people like that? Not a care?

I generally dont care when i make a statement. Its a little different from an insult since it wasnt directed at anyone.

But you must have some issues if you felt the need to make a comment on a general comment

For a start a 690 GTX has 2 x 256bit memory bus which is MORE than a single 384bit bus. So basically a single 7970 has just as much bandwidth as this titan. A 7970 CF has double the bandwidth and the same Vram.
384 bus does not equal bandwidth. It is a little more complicated than that.

Also the 7970 CF is not the same as having 6gb ram. The each card has 3gb but they store the same data, its not the same as 6gb independent.

As far as power, the 7970ghz is powerful and in CF they should outperform titan at times. But there are a lot of times where CF is not perfect. Titan will be full power all the time, no scaling issues. Also there is other issues with CF that some people wouldnt want to mess with.

But other than that, yes you can get two 7970ghz for a little less than titan. Nothing is stopping you.

This is true but im sure that the Vram doesnt store the same data. If this was true then my 460 GTX SLI would have never been able to play BF3 on such high settings as i would have only had 1GB effective.

So basically your paying for the whole Single GPU vs Dual GPU.

In a sense I would agree with this. For a prospective consumer that finds GTX 670 Sli, GTX 680 Sli or GTX 690 performance appealing that may not desire some of their limitations.

The higher potential/speculative price to me is another example of the evolutionary and incremental price/performance on a substantial and significant node and arch.

A Halo product in lower volume to showcase technology leadership to trickle down to nVidia's name brands, one may imagine.

You're wrong. The frame buffer IS duplicated in both cards in SLI/CF. Your VRAM does not double, it stays exactly the same

Really? So there is no benefit to having more Vram then with CF?

Damn that sucks

2is is right, as usual. And people who are so ignorant as to believe otherwise really shouldn't be insulting other people.

Can anyone here recommend the best process of obtaining one of these cards ? Newegg F5 spam near release date ? Is that really the only way ? I'm dying to get my hands on at least one, hate the idea they could all be sold out in minutes after they launch.

And yes I must be an idiot for wanting one...

i stand corrected on that point.

Next question - Why the hell does a 690 GTX have 4GB then when really it only needs 2gb

Because it needs 4gb, 2gb for each gpu.

The memory is basically mirrored (each 2gb has the same information), each gpu works on it's own frame. The software and hardware (such as bridges) handle cross gpu communication and which frame is displayed and which frame the gpu is working on.

SLI/CF is complicated technology, hence driver support is fundamental to it's success or failure.

IF you actually understood my post you would see that i said its all about single or dual GPU setup. So how its that backward or illogical.

And single cards do have stutter issues its been all over this damn forum

LOL, I nominate this one as the stupidest post in this thread...LMAO...let me guess, you are the proud owner of a 7970....CF?

RS offered constructive nit-picks about the price/performance with AMD's launch MSRP's and always felt that RS is consistent over-all.

Consistent about being dissatisfied with high prices - yes.

But AMD GPU division is barely profitable, and NVIDIA is doing just well enough.
So it's not like AMD and NV are raping customer base with some huuuge margins.
If anyone is doing particularly well it's TSMC, but again - nothing ungodly, and who's to say - not deserved?

If anything is good about capitalism - it's free market, so all these 1st world problems "OMG FPS is life and TITAN is $900" are nothing short of pathetic.
Because if Titan is indeed $900, I am pretty sure it's worth just that. And if it isn't - it will be overpriced, OK? And it's not going to sell.
The only way for a company to be in business, is to offer product at the price point that's compelling enough to it's customer base so they actually end up buying it. Shocking I know :ninja:

Reading P&N you'd thought everyone is hardcore Adam Smith Laissez-Faire capitalist. Sneaky socialists, big Goverment this, and Constitution that...
Then you come at VC&G and half of users are wearing Che T-shirts and are step away from writing petition to lower price on... WATER? BREAD? OIL? nope. unreleased VIDEO CARD.

What scares me in this topic is that some people are happy with the creation of the series EXTREME by Nvidia. I can see a future where Nvidia will release their major GPUs for $1000 and fill the rest of the market with cut down versions (aka GK104).

Brrr... such a scary prospect. You are truly a visionary.

Wow are you dumb. In sli and cfx the second chips memory is just a copy of the firsts. So in effect you have 256bit on the 690

Just spam F5 on newegg. AFAIK they always show up at 12pm EST, if you're online then you'll get one if you're waiting.
