I called fry's and they said the next shipment should be coming in next week. Also, from what I understand they are all backordered or else they would show on the site.

Best Buy has the BFG OC for $279.99 though it is out of stock online. Might have some luck in stores. Anyone have any idea how to get this any cheaper? From the coupon description it seems that the 10% coupons won't work, and I have not received anything from Reward Zone for this month. If there is any PMing or anything available let us know.

Core OC on the BFG is only 625mhz

EVGA has their SSC @ 700mhz for only $20 more (after tax it's only $8 more for me)

That Palit card is one of the best 8800GT out. They proved to be reliable. The company used to stamp out reference cards with no changes, however, after their version of 1950GT/Pro with massive cooling system (that yielded best overclock around), they recomended themselves as an enthusiast oriented company with reasonable prices unlike others... (ASUS anyone? 🙂)

Yea, the BFG store has it listed at $299. :|

I just got back from my local MicroCenter. No 8800GTs any where. 🙁

Agreed. I think prices will be lower once retailers have have enough stock to supply the demand.

I went to the BB in Chesapeake, Va this morning and they had 3 BFG cards for $279. I stood there for several minutes debating on if I should get it and decided against it. I already did the preorder from Fry's and it's $239 shipped. I just don't know when they're going to ship it since it's on backorder. So unless someone else gets it in stock for close to that price, I'm just going to wait for Fry's. Hopefully if Math20 is right, mine will get shipped this coming week.

I bought a BFG yesterday from Best Buy, of all places. 8800GT OC, for 279.00. That was a pretty good price for a big store like that, I thought.

This was in Raleigh, NC. There was at least one more in the case that I saw.

Jeez, people, it is not "price gouging" to charge what the market will bear! I don't know if you are students who have been brainwashed that any form of capitalism and profit is evil, but what's going on here is basic supply and demand. It's a hot new product that's in short supply and as a result, retailers are tacking on a premium to the price tag. Gouging is like when there is an emergency like a hurricane and stores start charging triple for groceries, batteries and gasoline - things that are NECESSITIES FOR LIFE, not luxury PC upgrade parts.

Think of it as an "ePenis impatience tax" - if you can survive a couple of weeks without the latest and greatest whatever, then you can save some $$$. If you're out of Ritalin and just gotta have it, then you'll have to pay for it, but don't even try to play the gouging victim card, because you aren't.

DefRef the wise, you speaketh the gospel of capitalism.

Another factor these so-called "victims" of capitalism overlook is supply/demand driven pricing increases stock availability to more people, not less. If prices for items like these are artificially set too low, you trigger individual hoarding and apportionment instincts, which creats substantially higher shortages and prices in the long run (Xbox360 launch only on Ebay ring a bell?)

So if the price of every 8800GT were set to say $200 at launch (unless you're a very lucky Johnny-on-the-spot) you still wouldn't have one because the stores shelves would always be empty and the etailers would be backordered through Christmas. But I bet there would be a few available on Ebay for $400.

I remember several years back when RAM prices took a bit of a jump from historic lows and the ignorants went nuts as if they were entitled to permanently low prices regardless of supply, demand, earthquakes in Taiwan, etc. I'm talking an increase of less than a dime per meg, like from 35 cents to 42 cents. A decade ago, RAM was $5/MB and a few years before that, it was $40-$50/MB - I remember a graphic artist I knew having 80MB of RAM in his Mac that cost over $3000!!!! - but now you look at Newegg and 2GB of performance RAM is about a C-note. 4GB for $150?!? That was science fiction type numbers not a few years ago.

The irony of the complaints about gouging is that every single person whining would run over their mothers to put cards on eBay if they could find them cheaply in stock? Think they would lose a wink of sleep worrying about their gouging? HA!!!! They'd put the minimum bid at 10% over MSRP.

I could go to my local Beast Buy and buy a BFG card right now, but I prefer eVGA and would rather get it a few bucks cheaper at Newegg, so I'll wait. It's not as if my 320MB 8800GTS is a total dog. I could always dial down the rez or detail levels for the time being. If Crysis is a good game, it'll be good in 4-6 months when I build an all-new PC. Patience is a virtue and a big money saver.

Defineately go in and check all of your local frys. You can even call ahead and ask if they have one and have them hold it for you. At my local Campbell Fry's they had a bfg 8800gt on the selves. I checked back again the next day and scored an evga 8800gt for $256 (it was returned for some reason, its working beautifully for me though and still have the full evga warranty).

I'm still going to wait and see how they benchmark against one another before I decide on which one I'm getting.

"OC" designation gets you max 4% improvement (600 -> 625 core, 1500 -> 1566 memory) for approx 20% more, when compared to plain vanilla, assuming it goes for ~$230. Not best bang/buck.

That's kinda how I'm feeling right now. I think I might wait and let the dust settle down a little bit. I also want to see how the AMD/ATI 3800, which should be out soon, is going to be priced. I think its going to be DirectX 10.1 compliant, which these 8800gt are not. Anyone out there know of any early reviews on the 3800????

Talked with a Fry's rep (Lynn) about an hour ago. The shipment hasn't come in yet, but they still expect it today. Lynn also said that the shipment is large enough to fill *ALL* of their backorders.

Waiting unpatiently...

Does anyone know of ewiz coupons like $10 off orders over $200 or something like that? If I can get a card under $270 shipped I'll go for it.
