That's the same Fry's I usually visit. Will check them out and see what they have left in stock.

i'm literally 2 exits away...

i'll wait though, hype = profit to retailers..... look at halo 3.... collectors edition, wtf is that about?

Depending on the model (which we don't know) you may or may not even have a lifetime warranty option.

And if they don't ship the cards within about 2.5 weeks you could lose your
ability to get the lifetime EVGA warranty for the card since they insist it's only valid if
the card is registered within 30 days of the 'purchase' (which on the receipt would probably
look like it's the date of pre-order even though they may not SHIP it or even CHARGE it (who knows)
until weeks later). And you can't register the card without physically receiving it first to get the
serial number, inspect/test it etc. etc.

http://www.evga.com/support/lifetime/

For our retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products purchased on or after June 22, 2005, EVGA will provide a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser of each retail product that the product will not suffer, in material or workmanship, from any defect that adversely affects the performance of the product. This limited lifetime warranty is valid for the life of the retail product, so long as the original purchaser owns the product, based upon the following conditions:

* All EVGA Products purchased ON or AFTER November 1, 2006 MUST be registered within 30 days from ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE to receive limited lifetime warranty. (All products not registered within 30 days will ONLY receive a 1 year limited warranty.)
* Removal and or Defacing of Serial/Part number sticker(s) on ANY EVGA products WILL void ALL warranties.
* ALL Defective products sent in for RMA replacement MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL INVOICE / RECEIPT. (Products NOT including invoice/receipt will be returned to the customer at customer's expense.)
* Limited Lifetime Warranty is for all retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products ending in the part numbers A1, AR, AX, BR*, BX*, DR, DX, FR, FX, SG, SL, or S2.
* [Replacement products are shipped out as -BR or -BX and will carry the same limited lifetime warranty that your original purchase had based on your registration.]
* All retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products ending in the part number K1 receive a limited 3 year warranty when registered within 30 days from ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE.
* There is no physical damage to the PCB, GPU/chipset, or components that are caused by: Damage due to improper installation, damage during modification of any kind, damage during any type of Aftermarket cooling installation, and water damage of any kind.
* All replacement products shipped out for replacement are recertified by EVGA to uphold the quality and guarantee of our products.
* All RMA products will require the customer to pay for shipping to EVGA. EVGA will cover all return shipping back for the RMA replacement with (Ground) Shipping through UPS.*

@manko,

It's the best buy I think. Shipping is $7.12 but OC to 625, No shipping date. Fry's did alright by me with their HDs.

Thanks again,

That's the one I went with. I picked 2nd day shipping for $10 that way when they get it, I'll get it quickly. And it's a slight OC, not much, but for $10 extra, why not? Overall less than the PNY cards we've been seeing and this gets a LIFETIME warranty.

THAT... and I really assume the waiting line for the BFGs is much shorter than the EVGA one. ;)

Either way, the Fry's pre-order is an amazing deal right now. Hopefully they ship the cards out soon.

EVGA rarely holds anyone to that 30day limit, they do that to try to get people to do it promptly but you can essentially do it anytime, I registered MY GTX 3 months after i got it from newegg and got an RMA a week later, if you do register within 30 days you get a discount on an advanced RMA plan for your card with expidited shipping or sending you a replacement first, etc. theres a few different levels to the Advanced RMA.

Hey this is great for me, I thought AMD would drive the price on the GTX down but the 2600 was a flop, its hard to believe the GTX will maintain its price much longer now as literally no ones gonna be intrested in buying them anymore @ $539 (the same price i got mine for in "january") with this card being soo cheap and soo close in performance. i expect to see -$350 GTX's soon, before the new year i expect i'll have my GTX SLI up and running. it wont be much more power than two GT's but it'll still have an edge.

After sitting on hold with Buy.com for 54 minutes and 37 seconds, I cancelled my order as they said when I placed my order it was "out of stock" (which it wasnt, but they insist I am mistaken). So, I promptly cancelled my order because they couldnt even give me an ETA as to when it will be "in stock". I'll wait until things die down and the prices come under MSRP. However, it sure would have been nice picking it up for 230 :(

Received this from Fry's this AM.

Thank you for your order. We apologize but the item(s) (BFG 8800GT) you
ordered are currently out of stock and we are unable to provide
a definite ship date at this time. However, we continually
receive new merchandise in our warehouse and we hope to fulfill
your order within the next thirty days or sooner if possible.

It was in stock when ordered!!!

Hrm...if I bought an eVGA 8800GTS (640, superclocked) for more than the advertised price of any GT card on evga.com, and I purchased it less than 90 days ago, can I get a GT of equal or lesser value for free now with the step up programs?

The anandtech review makes it sound like the new GT will outperform even the 8800GTS 640 superclock, so it should be worth it...thoughts/comments?

I don't mind not getting money back, since the new card performs better and there won't be another new one within the 90 days from my purchase, so I might as well jump on it now. Especially since I paid enough that I can get the SSC special edition version of the card for free. Gotta call eVGA to check on availability though...

Bah! You can only step up to the vanilla version of the card. Anyone want to weight in on whether the 8800GT vanilla is better than the 8800GTS 640 superclock? If not, then I'll probably just sell the GTS on ebay and buy the SSC special edition GT...so much more work that way though! :D

If you want to be able to resist more easily, get a socket 939 AGP motherboard like mine :(

A new mobo, CPU, and DDR2 would cost less than this card. :p

I'm thinking that "glitched" price is probably the actual price of that card before the markup. Hence why I am waiting a few weeks before jumping on this. My 7900GTO (with GTX bios) will do just fine for a bit longer.

Anyone get confirmation from Fry's of the EVGA model number of the EVGA
card Fry's.com / Outpost had the pre-order on?

I'd like to ensure it's even the model I expect it is and will be able to get
the EVGA lifetime warranty assuming Fry's ships them one day soon.

Is it the same model they're selling in retail stores?

Nope, they send me an email saying they are back ordered. So I decided to cancel the pre-order.

I will wait for the 8800GT to be come around roughly $200 or till December to purchase one.

According to EVGA's site all 8800GT's model numbers end in -A1.
Limited Lifetime Warranty is for all retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products ending in the part numbers A1, AR, AX, BR*, BX*, DR, DX, FR, FX, SG, SL, or S2.

These things staying cool enough with the single-slot fan? All of the 8800GTS cards had the dual-slot fan...

Unless I am missing something, 8800GTS and 8800GT are made with different semiconductor technologies, other than having different designs.
So, one being hot is not an indication of the other .....

DO NOT ORDER ONE IF YOU HAVE A DIMENSION E521

IT WILL NOT FIT INSIDE THIS PC!!

anything bigger than a 7600gt or 7900gs (maybe) will come in contact with the Heatsinks (because on the E521 it is in the middle of the motherboard (BTX design)
