Sorry, but PhysX is just a gimmick with no noticeable benefit...allegedly!../joke

I know this was a joke, but just so everyone can see how Physx works in Batman:AC, take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7lr7B9k9SA&feature=related

The graphics really are better with Physx. Some of the stuff is silly, but other effects are flat-out awesome (cloth, debris, etc.). This is the first game I've seen (and played) where I wouldn't ever want to play it without Physx.

I have Batman AC. I've not played it much yet. I also have 2x GTX 670 in SLI.

Do you have to disable SLI and dedicate the other card for PhysX for this to work? Or can you use them in SLI, and PhysX running from the second card (The way Nvidia control panel shows when PhysX is on auto in my system) and still get the benefits from both the raw speed of SLI and those cool PhysX effects?

I believe on auto whatever GPU is doing the least work will get the physx.

But will I still get the benefit from SLI?

Also, if using only one card, does it work without a dedicated card for PhysX?

I thought some PhysX games needed a dedicated card to utilize the PhysX effects.. ?

If I remember correctly with my GTX 295 SLI always worked and physx could be loaded to either GPU. If you let the driver handle it then whatever GPU was doing the least work would get the physx load.

On a single card the physx is on the card with all the other work.

If you're referring to Batman: AC just leave it to auto detect in the nvidia control panel. Physx performance is GREATLY improved in Batman: AC as of these beta drivers, there is no need for you to set one of your 670s as a dedicated card. Just leave your CP to auto select and leave your SLI settings as they are.

I just tested Batman Arkham City now.. I bought this game and Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY games on steam a month ago (Or longer). At the time I had one GTX 570 (which died). I began playing Asylum and thought it was awesome.

I must say wow! I tested using my GTX 670 SLI setup now, maxed out everything except for leaving AA at 4xMSAA. It looks awesome, and even more fantastic with the added PhysX effects!

Great. Yea I'm hooked on Skyrim but will play Arkham City some time soon. 670 SLI is great. Most impressed with how it adjusts clocks and power based on load. My x79 670 SLI rig uses 265 watts on average playing Skyrim maxed out. More for demanding titles or benching; but it remains the the most powerful setup I've ever owned, while consuming less power than previous SLI setups. Love it..

Skyrim is great... I played it for 180 hours + Looking forward to the DLC ;)

I too love my my two ASUS GTX 670 Direct CU II 'Non Top'. Sitting and eyeballing them through my CM Storm Scout's sidewindow. Have red light catodes in there, so looks very nice

No do not disable SLI, but set the second card to calculate physx in the Nvidia control panel. Tests with Fermi showed performance improvements when doing this. And if it does not net you a performance increase, then just change it back to auto.

Wow. Don't do this. With 301.42 MAYBE, but i'm telling you physx performance with 304 drivers improved a TON. I used physx high with 301.42 and the performance was passable on a GTX 690. Install 304 beta, my framerates went up by 25-35 fps everywhere.

You don't need to do this with the newest beta.

Don't knock it until you try it. Like I said, it won't hurt anything (there is no risk involved) and if it doesn't work, switching back is as easy as 1-2-3.

Well, I found that 1fps thing in Deus Ex. If you start the game windowed it will load fine and when you're in the game you can go to fullscreen again. However when you look at certain spots in the game it drops back to 1fps. So back to 301.42 for me. Seems like Nvidia improved benchmark games and killed some other titles by accident.

Vsync on or off made no difference. Lots of people complaining about this issue, not just in Deus Ex: HR either. Oh well.

isn't pc gaming great? lol

there has to be a better system for drivers then this garbage we have put up with for years. I swear its always something and one driver will help with one game while hurting another. I have never understand how a perfectly working game can get broken. but yeah we have members on here that claim to have "never" had a driver issue ever. of course that is 100% bs though.

I've had issues, just not necessarily the same one everyone else has. Some people claim to not have the 1fps problem with these drivers. I don't have any clue what could be different for them. FOr me it's 301.42 fine, 304.48 broken so I'm sticking with what works.

I had the .9 framerates in Deus Ex when I first tried it, couldn't get past the intro with the company info. Had to go through my usual list of forgotten things, restart to get Precision to work, re-enable SLI, etc. None of that made a difference, but after I noticed Inspector had an update and installed it for some reason it started working at 100 fps. Don't even have a profile for it. Cosmic rays I guess.

Thank god. I've been waiting for these. I really hope they make Diablo 3 playable on my 670 instead of a stuttering mess.

Way to know your Diablo 3 infrastructure bro.. Diablo 3's stuttering isn't because of Nvidia Drivers. It's the MPQ files. There's a hotfix for it that absolves 50-80% of the stuttering.

Basically, the game is fetching data to your hard drive in small packets... causing the stuttering. Maybe I didn't explain it perfectly, term for term but it's basically that.

Grab a 16GB SD card or flash drive and most of your stuttering problems will go away. Shame on you, Nvidia has bad drivers? LOL
