Just filled up. I was on empty, so you all potentially saved me a huge headache. I am in NJ, though, and have not seen any large spikes in fuel cost. Maybe $.10 in two days?

Its quite possible.

If Texas City, Clear Lake, Port Aurther, and Beaumont get flooded may be looking at 20% of the US refining capacity knocked offline for 6-9 months. Add into the fact that the port of Houston is likely to suffer a lot of damage as well.

Risng here in Raleigh, NC. It was in the $3.59-$3.69 range last night, today it's around $4.00. Some places are $4.39, and one place had $9.99 posted. Some stations are limited people to only 10 gallons. A a lot of places have run out of gas.

It seems to have jumped ~$0.13 to $3.65 during the day here in Austin, at least at the stations I drive by on a regular basis.

Only went up about a dime from yesterday in Madison, WI. I filled up a few days ago when it was $3.60, so I'm set until the middle/end of October given my usage.

Crude commidty prices are dropping but gasoline prices have actually gone up due to Ike fears.

I don't get Ike fears. Hurricanes never even knock down one oil platform out of the hundreds. Even if one got knocked over, what is hte impact on gasoline supply? NILL!

I think the huge price jumps are only going to be really seen in the south near refinery locations. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

The price jumps are mainly because of the refineries going offline,. The wholesale price of gasoline jumped up $1.50 in a day.

If people could just stop acting like total retards and realize the world is *not* coming to an end, perhaps maybe gas stations would stop price-gouging...

One can only dream...

Yep. By panicking and rushing to the gas station, people are causing gas stations to sell more gas than they normally would and causing the tanks to run empty quick. Barring major damage, most of the refineries should be up and running by the end of next week.

i'll put our differences aside dave, that's insane and should be illegal

With 20% of our refining capacity currently down, what should the price of gas of be?

The beauty of that site is that anyone can post any price they want without really any backing. For all you know, Dave posted it.

Oh yeah, it's not even listed anymore. ;)
