I'm all for taking over the middle east and draining their reserve dry. Let's all drive F350s.

So how many gallons of gas can I store in a tank at my house if prices drop to $1.15?

How long before gas goes stale? You know if it drops it will go right back up because international turmoil, OPEC, and hurricanes are a force of nature....

I could claim I'm using it for the farm equipment :)

You beat me to it... how long can gas last without going stale is my question.... I say get a 6,000 gallon tank and have the tanker deliver it right to you for savings! :)

We go through 100 gallons a month pretty easily, so 6,000 gallons would last 5 ish years, assuming it didnt go stale?

$1.15 is pretty low. Was it that low even pre-Bush? IIRC it was about $1.80 around then, so I kind of doubt it.

OPEC cut 1 Million Barrels today to kick off "Drive for Five" campaign

$5 gallon

Enjoy

The amount that OPEC cut production is nowhere near enough to drive gas up to $5...especially with the large supply in circulation already.

Nice try though.

Yeah, OPEC dropping production by 3% is just awful.

Didn't you already claim that in 2006 we'd see $4/gallon? What's wrong, Chicken Little?

We did.

Gas was $4 a gallon here.

It just recently dropped back below $3 here only a month ago.

Try leaving your cave once in a while missy.

Where the hell do you live? Japan? Oh no wait, you're in the states. I call BS on $4 a gallon.

This is all a cause of global warming? Or wait, I forgot where you live it's gotten colder over the past 100 years...man you just can't win. Go back to P&N where they're at least used to you.

Because sometimes, there are better explanations than "it's an election year"

Awwwwww how sweet.

Who do you work for?

Haliburton, Exxon, Cheney & his boys?

How nice, let me read the rest of the thread to see your "hey look, bush is screwing us over again!! first i complain about the high price of gas, but lord knows, if it ever dropped, i'd put an extra tax on it sure as i hate cheney's guts.!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And as for hybrids, they create soooo much more pollution than they save, for most people. The process to make them outweighs any pollution saving features, until you drive them for a long, long time. And, they're ugly.

Gas is 2.15 here, I'm well, happier.

So...what you are saying then is...is that the price of gas is related to the supply of oil? You mean...it isn't Bush/Cheney/Haliburton/Big Oil?

You need to get your story straight too....here you're laughing about OPEC cutting production to raise prices but you also say that it is Bush/Cheney/Haliburton/Big Oil manipulating prices for the benefit of an election. Well, here we have OPEC trying to raise prices/keep prices from falling more BEFORE the election.

Which is it?

Gas is 2.24/gal regular here for me. However, looks like OPEC will raise prices around December? Great! My 26mpg Camry isn't looking so hot.

Please explain to me how this works. How the hell does the government make prices drop when they a) haven't reduced gas taxes or b) flooded the market with the strategic reserves? The government certainly doesn't control the price of oil by any other means, unless they've got some big market makers in oil futures on their payroll that are selling short oil future contracts. They have no more control over the price of oil, if not less, then big oil or OPEC.

You just don't get it do you? Bush IS in cohoots with Osama Bin Laden, who controls the price of oil.

don't you think you have to take into account the size of the country?

japan is a small country compared to the US, european countries are small

No, you don't need to take into account the size of the country.
What you need to take into account is how spread the urban (inhabited) area is, and how much people need to go to their workplaces. How big is the density of the inhabitants (which affect how many people can be serviced by acceptable public transportation).
Do you know that there are places in China where the streets became deadlocked with people? When maybe your own american house far from the city sits over a surface bigger than what is used for a 10-stories building?

The reason USA uses so much gasoline is the urban sprawl, not the size of the country.

I think I'll take a little sprawl over streets becoming deadlocked with masses of people walking...
